Others believe it stifles individuality. However, in most cases it seems the pros outweigh the cons. School uniforms need to be implemented in public schools because they eliminate pressure to be trendy or fashionable, help school officials to keep campuses safe and allow students to focus more closely on academics. School age children are very impressionable and will often do whatever is necessary to be liked by their peers. Many times they will wear clothes that are inappropriate or pressure parents to spend extra money on designer labels.
Forcing and limiting them to wear a uniform can limit their ways to stand out from a crowd. The way you dress is a normal way for people to express themselves and limiting teenagers to that makes them try to stand out in other ways that are not always good. They could get into bad habits or it could affect their grades and school. Religious people also would have trouble accepting the uniform because of their morals and values and the way they dress. Having a mandatory uniform limits teenager’s creativity and their expressive side.
If they feel emotionally secure they are more likely to participate in the play and learning activities. Children need to have a strong relationship with the staff to feel comfortable and secure this will help them to enjoy themselves and less likely to show unwanted behaviour. It is important for adults to ensure that they have effective communication with their students; this will help keep the children comfortable and will also gain their trust. Without trust and honesty the children may feel like you are unapproachable and may keep their problems and worries to themselves and this may affect their learning. It is important that children are made aware of what is expected of them within school with regards to their behaviour and interacting with others.
Reshae Head SPE529 Reflective Journal Self-Contained and Inclusive Classrooms Self-contained classrooms in my opinion are great for students who have similar abilities and are trying to achieve a common goal. Self-contained classrooms allow teachers to focus on a minority group of kids that may need help that the majority of the kids may not need. This allows for certain students not to be held back, while others may need to slow down and receive special instructions or accommodations. I also like the fact that in a self contained setting, students are around kids with similar struggles so they tend to feel more comfortable and be more engaging during lessons. The only negative I see in the self-contained setting is the fact that the kids are sometimes cut off from the general education students.
By requiring students to take a break from technology and lend a helping hand, they become better people because the student then realizes the importance of human interaction and how just a simple smile can brighten someone’s day. In this aspect, future participation is prominent. Stepping outside a comfort zone plays a tremendous role on finding one’s specific interests and true personality. Mandatory community service exposes students to certain experiences in which the student may discover a hidden talent or passion for. Often, students who perform community service in order to graduate consider it a chore, however that is not the case for John Prueter.
A disadvantage of going to a private school might be that sometimes students are isolated from other social challenges. However some sociologists would argue that the type of school is not the most important thing that effects your achievement. They would say that what goes on in a school ay be more important. For example if you are labelled. Labelling is when teachers give you a 'nickname' reflected on the behaviour of the student, for example, if a student is working very well in a certain subject, then your teacher might label you the
Students will be less focused in school, and less likely to continue their educations, if they dread going to school each day. Including art and music in he curriculum will motivate students, and will inspire them to enjoy school. It will also give them a creative outlet. Many young people have trouble expressing their emotions in words, but find that the can communicate their ideas through music and art. Giving students an opportunity to create every day will keep them engaged in learning, keep frustration at bay, and lead to happier, more fulfilled children.
c. Though I have heard good and bad things about uniforms, I find that they are beneficial to students because they are reasonably priced, generate fewer distractions, and create a safer educational environment. II. Body paragraph 1 a. Before researching the prices of school uniforms, I assumed they would be probably pretty costly because not only would you buy a school uniform, but also regular play clothes for outside of school. i. I have since realized this is not true.
School uniforms are a great way to maintain the level of social equality amongst the students of public schools. The concept of knowing the social background is avoided. As such, personal biases are not formed and merit is the only deciding factor. It makes kids more likely to treat each other equally; not judging by what clothes they wear. Wearing uniform builds a sense of belonging, ambassadorship and loyalty in the students.
I have actually seen students being neglected by their own classmates because of this particular reason. The students’ main attention should always point towards education and not towards fashion. They have plenty of time to do fashion outside of the school. Even though students' individuality is important to express one's self, uniforms should be adopted in the school, because it lowers disciplinary referrals and helps students focus on learning. Schools requiring uniforms will experience reduction in violence.
