M2- Self awareness is the ability to know myself, my abilities, limitation and what is my personality is like. Self awareness is a very important tool to have as it helps me to be conscious of my limits and areas for further development. It is hard to do this with a friend because we may not want the friend to know who we really are. Before we can professionally help others as counsellors, we need to be self aware. This is because of the nature of the role of counsellors.
These side effects may affect one person but not another. This would be hard to study as you can not say it is exactly one thing, and then you would have to look at the extraneous variables which affect each problem. However, this could also be good as it is not really being reductionist in its own approach; it is looking at all the possible individual differences. If choosing a different approach, like cognitive, then it would still be difficult because you do not know what the person is thinking. You would have to rely on the patient giving you the information for it not is socially desirable or have demand characteristics.
What seems to be obvious might not be true at all. Conventional wisdom can be considered as convenient. Some people would rather believe what others tell them to believe because it might be safer to be politically correct. Some people don’t have to worry about figuring it out because it has already been figured out for them. The major problem with conventional wisdom is that is difficult to prove otherwise because it is already fixed in people’s
Even so, symbols can often be misunderstood. We can be dishonest about them, and not choose the correct side of where the truth and trust lays. Symbols help us build relationships with people, it is essential to have these symbols in our lives to form a relationship with God and humans, and with
Why or why not? In my honest opinion prejudice is hard to measure because it cannot accurately be predicted or judge by a test. I feel like prejudice cannot be measured accurately because the test shows the association between different groups. The only thing I can see the implicit association test is measured are the groups that I may belong to or fit in. People cannot show the result of being or prejudice because people are known to select things that they are more familiar with, things that they are more commutable with, and things that they see in their everyday environment.
I do not believe this statement is true. I believe in a lot of cases this may be true, but not always. I think it depends on the client and what there individual needs are. A personalised script allows for more person centred approach and in so cases is needed. However in many cases this is not possible.
My judgments are my own and it’s unique. I can’t predict when it happens and when to shut it down, just like my heart beats. I thought this way because whenever I am are faced with someone or something new, I don’t necessarily think over my thoughts to see if it’s reasonable or if I should not think these thoughts. I was questioning how Gladwell will be able to educate and teach someone to control their judgments and first impressions because everyone is different and their thoughts are of course not the same. However, I do understand how learning to control my snap judgments and first impressions is important because it gives people a second chance to prove who they are but everyone is entitled to their own judgment and not everyone has to agree with
Surprisingly” Authentic Experiences With so much emphasis on being honest to others, what ever happened to being true to ourselves? Everyday hustle and bustle leads to the lack of self-reflection from experiences. People miss what an incident truly means and ultimately obscure their view of themselves. Dolly Parton once said “find out who you are and do it on purpose.” Exactly how is one supposed to do that? Since experiences are what ultimately shape an individual, reflecting upon those personal experiences lead to self discovery.
Is Your Audience’s Perspective Likely to Be Narrow? This question directs you to consider how your audience’s tendency to mine-is-better thinking, face saving, resistance to change, conformity, stereotyping, and self-deception may interfere with their comprehension of your views. A clue to the way those ten- dencies are likely to influence your audience on a particular problem or issue is the way they have influenced you in the past. (The more honest you are with yourself about your own occasional irrationality, the more sensitive you will be to your audience’s
Getting the right meaning or answer to things is a value I hold close. Over thinking things tends to get me in trouble with this. I can find the answer, but I think about how to come up
