2.1 Over many centuries leadership had different definitions. Bass (2008,p. 3) defined leadership as a uniqueness that individuals are born with or build in into the early life stages. Handy (1999,p. 117) on the other hand, states that leadership is for somebody who can “develop and communicate a vision”, which encourages people to behave in certain positive way willingly. In this case study everyone saw Brenda Hogan as a challenge. After many years of studying she was able to identify problems, methods of communication, social structure and culture of the organisation. By acknowledging these aspects, she expected to increase effectiveness within the company by becoming their leader. After long days of observation, Brenda decides to create managerial groups for various departments. At first, members were surprised to see such a changed, were the leader participated in accomplishing the task. Each lunch hour spent on the factory floor just to get to know people she worked with. This kind of behaviour brought Hogan the respect and close relationship within the members of the shoe business, even though the change did not last for long. As just after four weeks, seniors admitted it was too difficult to adjust to the sudden change. Nevertheless, Max Worthy was a manager, who never met his subordinates, thus his rear appearance unintentionally encouraged people to work on their own supervision. Worthy whose office was based at the top of the building, communicated to the staff through lower rank employees and never got involved with factory workers. This kind of management behaviour seemed surprisingly effective and appreciated by most senior subordinates. Each individual had the same role for many years, without any disturbances or changes, for that reason, they did not appreciated the change introduces by the young leader. 2.2 Max Worthy was one of the successful
