Week 7 - Creative Media Industry: Understanding Your Audience “It requires wisdom to understand wisdom: the music is nothing if the audience is deaf.”- Walter Lippmann For week 6 we had a entrepreneur named Steve Palfreyman deliver a somewhat informative brief on how to basically go around attracting our audience and understanding their needs so we can craft our selves to evolve around them. During this lecture I can clearly remember Steve focusing on one major quote throughout his presentation “when you plan in someone else’s sandbox, they make the rules” I somewhat believe that in todays modern era of creativity to be different we all need to somewhat craft or design our own sandbox so we can have our own rules to manipulate and play around with. To gain that major key to success, and to be recognized as a creative art form within the creative media industry, one should have the requirement to be able to connect with their consumers or clientele, and have a complete understanding of the audience they are reaching out to. “The customer isn’t always right. But if you don’t listen to them, your product won’t be either.” Oli Gardner (co-founder of Unbounce) Therefore the main clarity aspect of marketing being partially divided up into three parts: 1. Yourself - One of the biggest things to remember before trying to understand your audience is under standing yourself. What truly defines you? How to be unique from all the others out there. Focusing on that one major skill you generally tend to apply in all your projects, like for me as a producer of electronic music I generally focus on my synthesis ideas and EQ techniques to make my work stand out a little more. Today’s creative industry has millions of ideas and talented people to pick from so how do you standout so you attract an audience for yourself. I personally feel as a music
