What attributes are required of an undercover officers? You must first meet the requirements required by most agencies:
Be a U.S citizen
Non- convicted felon
Be at least 21
Have a valid driver’s license for that state or be able to get one
Do you believe you would make a good undercover officer? Why or why not? Should undercover officers wear body mikes whenever they are undercover?
Not in all situations because the body mikes could be detected and then your cover would be blown. It would work for long-term case but not for a deep undercover job.
Should undercover officers be allowed to break minor laws to obtain the confidence of the targets?
Yes, how crazy this might sound but this is for them to get a case going and catch the criminals. If you want to catch them you must play by their rules considering drugs, alcohol, money etc… It’s all part of the game and your job. You don’t want to make them feel uncomfortable around you.
