Michael Winger 09/26/13 English 1550 Narrative Essay Underage Drinking: A Personal Account I’ve only been arrested once. At the ripe age of twenty. Woops! We all mistakes though, right? Right? Anyway, this is a great story. It’s full of adventure, stupidity, and maybe even a lesson to be learned. Here it goes. It was the perfect night for a concert. A sunny day at the end of spring. I was sitting on my porch waiting for my best friend, Douvis, to pick me up. I hadn’t seen Douvis in about two years. He had fled the area to be far away from his zealous father. He pulled up to my house, late as always, in a shiny new car. I figured it was a rental, seeing as he was visiting the area. Nope. It belonged to his annoying younger cousin Grace, who was sitting in the back seat. In the front passenger seat was Justine, who happens to be Douvis’ bisexual, mohawk rocking, former stripper girlfriend. Naturally, I claimed her seat (probably a gender thing), and settled in for the two hour car ride. Sitting in the car, I couldn’t help be feel envy of Grace for having such a nice car. It still had that great new car smell. It even still had that stupid plastic film over the touchscreen mounted in the dash. Pretty soon though, I got over all the bells and whistles of the car, and got around to catching up with Douvis and Justine. I told them what was going on in my life, and they filled me in on life in St. Augustine. Everything they were saying just went right through one of my ears and out the other though. I was much too excited to be getting out of town to really have a meaningful conversation about such trivial matters. I could barely sit still, I was wriggling around like a hamster in the arms of a toddler. Fast forward down I-79 about fifteen miles, and the first bad decision of the night is made.
