Ultra Sonography 11/17/2010 I chose the profession of an Ultra Sonographer. I have been around the medical field my whole life because my mom worked in a hospital for 29 years as a nursing assistant. Then as I came of age I got a job at my mom’s hospital as an administrative assistant where I worked in the Radiology department, it was a great experience. I loved to learn how the machines worked to see what’s going on inside someone’s body whether it was due to pregnancy, or checking patients gall bladder, liver, pancreas, kidneys just to name a few. There are a lot of benefits in working in the medical field as a sonographer. The Life of an Ultrasonographer In life today we have so much technology these days in the medical field to find out what is going on in the human body. Sonography is one of them and is very popular in x ray and magnetic resonance imaging (http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos273.htm). Sonography, or ultrasonography, is the use of sound waves to generate an image for the assessment and diagnosis of various medical conditions. Sonography is commonly associated with obstetrics and the use of ultrasound imaging during pregnancy, but this technology has many other applications in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions throughout the body (http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos273.htm). Most sonographers are employed in health care facilities, some travel to different health care facilities or the homes of disabled patients. Sonographers are needed these days and that is why employment for them is expected to increase by 2018 by 18 percent (http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos273.htm).
