TV Violence in the Media and the aggression that contaminates children Children nowadays spend more time watching television than they do performing any other activity, except sleep. The level of violence kids see on prime time television is a vast amount per hour, including cartoon programming, which gradually boosts the amount of violent acts even more per hour. At this rate, the average American, child will see thousands of murders before they finish elementary school. Being the dreadful fact, children learn from television, especially when they lack direct exposure with vicious, grotesque acts. Violence takes a massive toll on children and the way they will view life as they grow older. This makes our future society with TV violence on children grow to the point where our upcoming generations will live a “Violent World” with dumb downed people. A child viewing a television program can be shocking. Their eyes are usually glued to the viewing of violence, which usually involves killings and murders, which is the type of programming kids find interesting. The entertainment media plays an extremely, powerful role in the formation of values and morals, to all young minds of all ages, involving all socioeconomic and intelligence levels. These programs tease the mind of the child, which add tremendous, negative effects to their mentality. As a society, our job is to keep harm away from upcoming generations and take an active role in protecting the children from any violence on television. I think shows such as The Simpsons and Married…with Children encourage kids to disrespect their parents. There are in fact programs that are devoted to educate children such as Sesame Street and Blues Clues, sadly the ratings for these shows are not as high as they used to be.
