Assignment 1: Trends In The Workplace HRM500 Human Resource Management Foundations January 25, 2014 Predict three (3) human resource functions that are likely to be affected by the implementation of an MRP system. Propose two (2) ways in which you as a human resource manager can help the organization carry out this change successfully. Material resource planning is a formal computerized approach to inventory planning, manufacturing, scheduling, supplier scheduling, and overall corporate planning. The system provides the user with information about timing and quality, generates new orders, and reschedules existing orders as necessary to meet the changing requirements of customers and manufacturing. The system is driven by change and constantly recalculates material requirements based on actual forecast orders. It makes adjustments for possible problems prior to their occurrence, as opposed to traditional control systems which looked at more historical demand and reacted to existing problems. The first function to be affected by this is job analysis. It's the process used to collect information about the duties, responsibilities, necessary skills, outcomes, and work environment of a particular job. Also process where judgments are made about data collected on the job. With MRP the shift is going to change the standards of the way things are being done. The next function affected by this implementation is training and development. Training is planned effort to enable employees to learn job related knowledge, skills, and behavior, while development is the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and behavior that improve an employee's ability to meet changes in job requirements and in customer demands.
