TRENDS IN ELECTRONIC WARFARE ABSTRACT: Technology is a gift of God. After the gift of life it is perhaps the greatest of God’s gift. Modern battlefield is dominated by high technology systems criteria being denial of battle space to enemy forces. The battle space encompasses the land, sea, air, space environment and also the electromagnetic spectrum and success in this battle hinges on the perfect exploitation of all the above. That is by using remote control vehicles precision guided weapons to achieve “kill” superiority and by occupying the entire electromagnetic spectrum. This is achieved by Electronic Warfare. “Dominance of battle space being the doctrine”, the aim and intension of electronic warfare is to provide dominance. In war campaign ability to maintain battle dominance is linked to the ability to gain and maintain ‘information superiority’. This need for information superiority is driving electronic warfare technology. Electronic Warfare is subdivided as Electronic Support Measures, Electronic Counter Measures and Electronic Counter Counter Measures. This paper highlights the study of Electronic Warfare and its subdivisions.
