Athletic trainers are trained in prevention of athletic injuries, recognition, and immediate care of athletic injuries, rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries, health care administration, and education and counseling. Those are just some of the things they may do in this job. The education requirements are very important for this job. The trainer must be over 21 and have a baccalaureate degree from a university that includes: 3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours from an accredited college or university in: health, human anatomy, kinesiology/biomechanics, human physiology, physiology of exercise, basic athletic training and advanced athletic training. The trainer must also have completed 800 hours of athletic training experience under the direct supervision of a certified athletic trainer. In high school the trainee should really concentrate on algebra, geometry, biology, chemistry, physics, first aid, health occupations/medical professions education, and health. These are all the requirements the trainer must have as due to training. The job out look for this career is not so big. Employment opportunities for an advanced athletic trainers should be good over the next decade. The increasing interest in physical fitness and sports competition should increase, so that will lead to the need for athletic trainers. The large number of high school and college sports programs will continue to need the pros on athletic training so they will need more and more trainers. The career earnings for this job are pretty good. Most athletic trainers work in full-time positions, and typically receive benefits. The
