1. The challenge I would face if I were successful in my application to become a train driver would be being responsible for a large number of lives in a high speed vehicle under my control. I have been responsible for the public's welfare before yet never in this type of environment. Another challenge I would face would be the wide range of possible dangers that may appear on the railway track, such as damaged tracks or vandalism to the train from items thrown at the cab. Another challenge would be the different signals which I would have to read and react to immediately, including learning the train routes. 2. Due to my current career I am regularly responsible for the safety of a large group of people, however to improve myself and prepare for the challenge of a train driver's responsibility I will be using trains more frequently to become more comfortable with the motion of the trains. I will also be speaking to a qualified train drivers about the position and tips on how best to prepare. I will be visiting my nearest train station more often, to become comfortable in the atmosphere around trains. To prepare for the wide range of different signals and dangers that I would face whilst on the track, I will be researching the different signs & signals to better understand what they represent. 3. My motivation for applying for this post is the possibility of having a rewarding career where every day will take you to a different destination. I have always enjoyed train travel which is a major reason for me applying. To be able to combine that interest with my career would be fantastic and be proud that I have a job that I enjoy doing on a daily basis, where going to work doesn't feel like a chore yet a privilege.
