Traditional Classroom vs Online Classroom? Traditions are traditions for a reason right? They work. They’re effective. Why change something if you get positive results? Classrooms have been around for thousands of years. Yes the Internet was invented in our lifetime, but that doesn’t mean we should stop there and rely on the internet. The internet however makes researching your work a hundred times easier than using a library, but technology is advancing. There’s a debate whether going to school to a classroom setting is better than taking online classes. Both have its advantages and both have their disadvantages. I will explain the pros and cons to both sides and the results. The first distinction of traditional classes is that you have to have a set schedule. It’s a fixed time and location whereas taking online classes gives you more flexibility. Now say someone who has a family, works full-time, and needs the balance of time to complete projects, online classes is a better suit. Sitting in a class requires interactions with the instructors and students. Hearing the voice of others allows one to understand the ideas and expressions of the speaker. Typing your words out doesn’t allow the reader to fully understand your reasons. There are less distractions in the classroom (e.g. social media, TV, cell phones). If you have a family or working full time, being in classroom is more restrictive. It also allows students to have the “real-feel” college experience. Financially wise, it costs more going to an actual classroom. Costs money to use the classrooms, the gas it takes to drive to and from school, and other expenses.
