Traditional American Wedding I heard of an unusual cultural thing that is going on in what they call America. It is rumored that in this America they have a bunch of rituals that these Americans go through before, during and after their wedding ceremonies. I’m fascinated by this and I plan to travel straight away to this America to witness first hand these rituals of the American wedding. I disembarked the plane, and met up with the couple that I had been corresponding with, who I will be following through this American custom. I began asking the following questions, like how they met, and how long had they had dated before they decided to get, what they call an engagement. They said they had met in the park, and after six months he proposed to his Bride (Is what the female is called in this ritual) to be. I asked is this the customary length of time that a couple stays together before they commence to the proposal stage. They said it depends on the couple, some stay in this courtship phase shorter or longer. There’s no set rule but one, love is a must between the couple. But I also came to find out that the Groom (Is what the male is called in this ritual) to be, had to get permission from the Bride’s father before he could propose. In this American custom it’s a rite of passage, with the fathers blessing it signals that the man is good enough to marry his daughter. After this blessing is granted the man is free to propose to the women and in her acceptance the result is the engagement. After this the great undertaking of planning this American ceremony begins. Picking a date for this ceremony is the first step. After that is chosen then a location is chosen. Most Americans choose a church or a chapel that corresponds to their religious beliefs.
