Explain the term ‘globalisation’ and the role that multinational companies play in the development of globalisation. Globalisation is the process by which the world is becoming increasingly interconnected as a result of massively increased trade and cultural exchange. Globalisation has increased the production of goods and services and has therefore lead to increased trade between countries. This trade encourages countries to work together and removes trade barriers such as quotas and tariffs. This increased openess allows countries to specialise in producing goods which they have a comparitve advantage in (this means they can produce goods at lower unit costs) A multinational Company is a corporation that has its facilities and other assets in at least one country other than its home country.

While fewer people die each year as a result of natural hazards, these events are affecting more people than ever before. At the same time, they are taking a greater economic toll than in the past. Since 1980, the average annual economic cost of natural hazards has risen from less than $20 billion to more than $160 billion. In the same period, the number of people reported as being affected has risen from an annual average of 100 million to more than 2 00 million. Economic losses from disasters have grown exponentially, nearly tripling between1980-89 and 1990-99.
Examine how globalisation has resulted in economic winners and losers (15) Globalisation is the process by which the world is becoming increasingly interconnected as a result of massively increased trade and cultural exchange. Globalisation over the past hundred years has undoubtedly made the world more interconnected including closer societies, politics, economies, cultures and the environment. Globalisation has increased the production of goods and services. There are those who argue that globalisation creates “winners” and “losers,” as some countries prosper, whilst other countries fail to do well. China is becoming a more developed country and is becoming a ‘’winner”.
ASSIGNMENT 2 PROGRESSIVE ERA THROUGH The GREAT DEPRESSION The Prosperity Era or what is also known as the roaring twenties were a fun time for Americans and a time full of changes. “The 1920s were an age of dramatic social and political change. For the first time, more Americans lived in cities than on farms. The nation’s total wealth more than doubled between 1920 and 1929, and this economic growth swept many Americans into an affluent but unfamiliar “consumer society.” People from coast to coast bought the same goods (thanks to nationwide advertising and the spread of chain stores), listened to the same music, did the same dances and even used the same slang! Many Americans were uncomfortable with this new, urban, sometimes racy “mass culture”; in fact, for many–even most–people in the United States, the 1920s brought more conflict than celebration.
Evaluate which stakeholder groups are likely to be most influential in the achievement of objectives [18] A stakeholder is a person, or group, who has an interest or is affected by the activities of a business. SLSL have a number of stakeholders which could have a major influence in achieving their objective of increasing revenue by 4% as well as expand into Market Harworth. These stakeholders could include the managers, owners, the customers and the competition. If one were to consider these stakeholders in relation to the Stakeholders Matrix, they would fit into the top category (high influence as well as high interest) and so they may be considered to be the most influential in the achievement of objectives. One objective that may have a high level of influence from stakeholders is the aim to increase revenue by 4%.
Low brow entertainment was at an all time high and it was never more publicized. Talk shows like Geraldo Rivera, Ricki Lake, and above all Jerry Springer thrived during the decade. Any sort of level of decency had been shattered and it was a free for all. Commercializing all events no matter how unfortunate separated the 90’s from other generations. It had never been possible to keep people posted with copious amounts of meaningless bullshit, but with the advent of the internet, marketers soon found a larger platform to entertain the masses.
I think that the most major demographic change in Texas over the years would definitely have to be population growth. Texas is fast growing and we are a very diverse area. Many rural areas are becoming urban areas and it seems like is happening quickly. The population growth can be credited to three major factors: natural increase due to the difference between births and deaths; international immigration; and domestic immigration. (Champagne & Harpham, 21) Texas seems to be urbanizing more and more.
History can and should be used as a selling point for a community. The recognition of an area’s historic resources can bring about neighborhood revitalization, increased and sustainable tourism, economic development through private investment, and citizenship building. When communities’ travel-related entities partner with public or private organizations, the historic, cultural, and natural resources are more effectively promoted to meet the heritage traveler’s desire for an integrated and enriching experience. 2. Definition of Tourism The Definition of Tourism varies source by source, person by person.
