Total Quality Pioneers “Quality is a dynamic state associated with products, services, people, processes, and environments that meets or exceeds expectations and helps produce superior value” (Goetsch & Davis, 2010, p 5). Quality involves meeting and exceeding customer expectations, applying to products, services, and processes within the organization, and an ever-changing state to consider good quality daily (Goetsch & Davis, 2012). Quality expectations come from products and organizations that offer to the service that customers may receive. The measurement of quality allow customers to determine where he or she receives service and can hinder the growth of an organization if the quality of service if not top notch. W. Edwards Deming is known as a pioneer of the quality movement. Deming’s thoughts of quality are still valid and insightful, and it is important to measure preferences of customers to measure frequently (Goetsch & Davis, 2012). Deming was a major contributor to the total quality development. He was influential pioneer by showing that quality starts with management and leaders within an organization. Deming first set forth the seven deadly diseases that emphasize profits, costs, and liabilities. These diseases add costs to an organization but also contribute to the quality and productively, and although for an organization are also benefiting factors of the quality of service and products customers will receive. The quality an organization offers has a basis of its success. Deming devoted his efforts to the Japanese industry and its rebuilding. His works were with top management in improving production in design, product quality, testing, and sales.
