Having a part time job gives you more freedom but also limits your income, and therefore, limiting your standard of living and may even end up affecting your quality of life. Working, (whether it be part time or full time) can cause a lot of stress, but if tackled early on in your career you can learn stress management techniques that may help you cope with school and others parts of your life. However, working while in school overall; can be both beneficial and detrimental to your academic and job success. Working while in college can be beneficial to just about anyone. It allows you to gain valuable knowledge and experience that you would not learn in school.
This break gives students a time to find themselves and find what truly inspires them. For many people this is to travel the worl and many others is to get into the workforce. On the other hand, many young people don’t have any idea what they want to do with the rest their lives so having this time to think and find themselves would be a great idea. Instead of wasting money paying for classes they possibly will never use in their job. During this period of time it would be a good idea to work on college applications and improve your odds to get in a good college.
This transition from high school to college has become a blessing and a burden. Anxiety and stress will be a difficult task to manage. Solutions that will surely help accomplish these goals will be to study, socialize, and a well-developed plan. As Antoine de Saint-Exupery once said, “A goal without a plan is just a wish”. I do not expect to be perfect, but drawing out my strength and motivation from previous learning experiences will help
Sometimes their heads aren’t in the right place, only thinking about partying or just overworking themselves and stressing over an overload of work. Basically students don’t reach their full potential in most cases. Motivation or ambition is the key to a student successfully graduating or it also could be their downfall. The select few students, who have ambition to do well in school would take advantage of all the resources the school would be providing. Such as, tutoring, getting books from the library, and seeing professors for extra help or one on one time.
Without an appropriate background, teachers can inadvertently isolate or alienate LEP students who need to feel like they are “part of the instructional setting” so a positive self-image is preserved (Carrasquillo & Rodriguez, 2001). Often, LEP students need special language programs which will supplement their learning needs fairly. Because of the rise of “immigrants and high fertility rates among linguistically and culturally diverse groups in the United States,” (Carrasquillo & Rodriguez, 2001) the number of students in need of special resources such as language development programs and better trained teachers is significant. Educators need to adapt teaching styles to fit the needs of these students because they are important of our country’s diverse
In today’s economy where financial stabilization is a must, the option of going to school and getting a degree is a popular trend among young adults. The object of doing it may seem easy enough, yet the task of going through school, performing proficiently, finishing it, and handling all financial responsibilities can prove to be a bit overwhelming for some. The decisions of getting a job for many students become almost necessary. Students in college and larger universities, already encounter enough pressure with constant essays and multiple test examinations; the added responsibility of holding down a job to support self education becomes an added stressor. “Twenty three percent of full-time undergrads, who are 24 or younger, work 20 hours or more a week.” # The average cost of earning a four-year degree continues to rise, thus putting most undergraduates in a position of financial difficulty.
For students who aren’t sure exactly what they want to do, they can take a variety of classes so that maybe they can find something they are interested in. But if there were a lot of classes needed to graduate then by the time each student is done with all these classes, they are forced to take classes aimed towards their major. But one major flaw with this system is that sometimes students can become too focused in their major. Students may take electives that somehow tie into their major. Then they will have a very narrow minded education.
After all, reaching out of the comfort zone takes courage, especially if that involves different cultures and different languages. Throughout the video I tried to present some key scenes that communicated the differences between confining yourself to an ethnic group jut because it seems confortable, and exploring beyond your boundaries and merging with the students that surround you. To achieve this, I start the video showing an immigrant student that only relates with peers from his homeland, but this causes him to have trouble understanding his classes and homework. Then,
Nowadays, many high school students have part-time jobs, and that has caused a controversy to many people, wether having a part-time job is bad or benefits the student. High school students should have part-time job, because it will improve and benefit them in many ways. One reason is that having a part-time job will get you work experience, and will have a much easier chance on getting other jobs in the future. Before even graduating from high school, students will have experience that employers will want to see, and will feel what's it like to have a job. They will also get a bit of the taste of what they will want to be in the future.
Also, some people argue that taking a year off may cause high school students lose the studying interest because they are exposed to the real social life earlier, and they are more likely to get lost in the fancy world than their classmates. Taking a year off can also be risky; some unexpected things might happen like the car accident, the unexpected injury and etc. Although the opponent might be valid, I still believe high students should take a gap year before getting into college for the following reasons. Firstly, taking a year off after high school can help students perform better academically. According to David Rynick, executive director of Dynamy Internship Year (MA), "While there is significant peer pressure, parental pressure, and school pressure to go right on to college, the adventurous few who take time off are richly rewarded.” (“Gap Year”) By taking a gap year, high school students are able to travel different places, they meet different people; they hear different life stories.
