Along with these dreadful wages and hours there were poor working conditions. The working conditions were the main cause for the strikes. There were improvements being made throughout the time period. “The working people find that improvements are constantly being made, and unless a strike, the improvements will all go to the employer…” (Doc I). As stated, without the laborers performing a strike the improvements would just benefit the employers and the employees had to work for every little thing they got.
Happiness Essay Happiness cannot be uniformly defined by everyone, mainly due to how everyone has had different life experiences, and it is these experiences upon which they grow upon with and reflect their everyday actions on. Many find happiness in monetary possessions or in just having money, which can have a negative impact on their life styles because they will always attempt to get money and with whatever matters necessary. Other find happiness in the small things in life, but it all depends on our mentality we have on life. How is that life? Mindlessly putting in your hours at a job that will make you work full time and offer you no benefits or even a decent work environment. Life? There are opportunities for everyone to pursue happiness; many do not know how to get out of poverty because it is all they have ever known. Katherine Arnoldi talks about how she has a job that can provide her with the basic needs in life, but the job that she is working in isn’t something that she wants for the rest of her life.
Stephenie Stevenson Christine Warrington ENG 202 NA 5 November 2013 The story Metamorphosis, demonstrates how we allow every day life to over take us to the point that we change into something that we are unable to identify. Gregror did everything for everyone, but nothing for himself. He didn’t enjoy life because he was too busy working at a job that he hated in order to pay off his parents debts and to take care of the household; while they did nothing to help or to show him any appreciation. This story also show how one can give their all and when they are in need of help those that he or she helped along the way will turn their backs with no regard to you. While I was reading, “Metamorphosis”, it made me view life in a different way, and made me come to a decision of taking time out for myself in order to enjoy every essence of being me, and not neglect myself.
His Samana way of life is practically forgotten as he instead immerses himself in fine food, fine clothing, and greed. In my life, I’ve learned that my own personal opinion of myself is far more important than any other person’s opinion of myself. Nobody else can change who I am, so why would I let their opinion matter more than mine? Every day, strive to be the person YOU want to be. A person like Chris McCandless who has everything in the world is still unsatisfied on what is around him. He has family, money and a great education that will soon be his great future but he thinks that everything related to wealth is sinful. Chris made a journey to search for the true meaning of life and escaped it pressures. He also tried to travel by using his instincts in life by living naturally without other's aide. Whereas he helped people suffering of hunger by donating all of his college money, he forgot to help himself.
They on the other hand cannot fail to work because they have people looking up to them to provide and support. For the fear to lose their jobs, workers do not speak up, protest or ask for salary raise. Even when the work load increases, workers are forced to work for longer hours without complaining or asking raise for the extra hour they are working. Workers no longer have a say or rights that they can hold to. Many workers fear losing their jobs because of the fact that finding another will be a hustle for them.
Reality always defeats dreams. No matter whether or not the dream is simple, in order to achieve it, the journey will be complicated. In Salinas, California during the Great Depression, life was rather busy. Individuals revolved their lives around work, and hardly left themselves leisure time for fantasizing. Dreams were rarely obtained due to the harsh circumstances.
I know they say not to goof off at work. However I just can’t help it. The jobs too much fun and the people are too crazy not to let loose every now and then. Q: What do you dislike about your present job? A: Money!
One has to think what helps and worrying does not help what helps doing something about it to make it better does. Life can be an ongoing battle however if you are not winning you are losing there is no cruising and that with everything else in life like a relationship either you are growing or dying so grow for the sake of growing you only live once. Life is gift do not waste it there can be good and times and bad times but as long we continue the good fight we are on the right track. Please do not waste time on what you have done, or did not do, should have done, or things around that
