To kill a Mockingbird is a classic novel that takes place in Alabama during the depression. The book is narrated by Jean Louise “Scout” Finch, who is also the main character of the book. Her dad Atticus is a local town lawyer who seems to be held with high moral standards. Scout, her brother Jem, and their friend Dill have become intrigued because of rumors about the town reckless Boo Radley. Boo is never seen outside his house and rumor has it that he stabbed his dad in the leg with a pair of scissors and not carries a horrible reputation because of it. The kids get the bright idea of daily finding a way to get closer and closer to the radely house and one day gets caught by Atticus who gets onto them. They go over there again anyways and frighten Nathan who also lives in the radely house, he fires a gun which scares the kids and jem looses his pants on the fence, only to return for them the next day to find them neatly folded waiting for him. Over time the kids find strange gifts left in a hole in a tree in front of the radelys for them, not knowing where they are coming from. Atticus and the family get ridiculed because Atticus decides to defend a black man who is accused of raping a white woman. Though the evidence in the trial clearly points tom as innocent, he is proclaimed guilty. Atticus is hoping to appeal but tom tries to free himself from jail and is shot and killed before Atticus got the chance. The father of the white girl (alleged rape victim) is very angry that Atticus humiliated him in a public court. He takes his anger out on the children’s they are coming home from a party one night. He launches at them with a knife trying to stab and kill them. Boo Radley notices this and runs to their rescue, stabbing and killing
