INTERPERSONAL SKILLS Interpersonal communication is the act of communicating with others. This process involves “exchanging information, feelings and meaning through the use of verbal and non-verbal messages “( Eunson, 2010, p.30).It involves two concepts which are interpersonal and intrapersonal communication. There are elements to understanding interpersonal communication which include assertiveness, emotional intelligence and self-talk . In order to improve effective communication within and outside TSBA, the report mainly focuses on training for emotional intelligence and assertiveness. Emotional Intelligence Emotional intelligence refers to the capability of one to be aware of his or her own emotions, respecting and appreciating the importance of them in daily life as well as managing them (Weis, Hanson & Arnesen, 2009). It deals with one’s feelings, moods as well as sensitivity. Emotional intelligence has a framework which includes self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation empathy and social skills. For the managers in the TSBI Company to improve on their communication skills a training program on emotional intelligence is vital. Managers at TSBI should be trained to accept and tolerate other people’s values and beliefs within and outside the company. This will help to reduce the rate of conflicts as they will be capable of controlling their emotions properly knowing that values differ. Johfin (2012) support this view by noting that emotional intelligence involves the capability to handle manners so that they are articulated effectively. Thus, the managers of TSBI would find it easy to communicate and work with their subordinates as well as their suppliers. The management can contact benchmarking within and outside the organisation.
