Time Warner Cable (TWC) company has been in business since 1989. In 1989 Time Warner Cable was Formed through the joining of Time Inc., cable television and Communications, and Warner Cable. TWC operates in 28 states and corporate headquarters is located in Midtown Manhattan , New York City. TWC owns several sport and local news stations including the recently formed Time Warner Sports Net and Time Warner Cable Deportes in southern California. TMC acquired the rights to the Los Angeles basketball team Lakers and are in pursuit in negotiation with major league baseball Los Angeles Dodgers broadcasting rights. Time Warner Sports will serve as the focal point for local Lakers broadcast. The broadcasting rights were sold for $3billion in exchange for exclusive broadcasting rights for 20 NBA seasons. As part of the contract TWC will negotiate with DirecTV, Dish Network, Cox Communications, Charter Communications, AT&T U-verse, and Verizon FIOS but as of today they have not come to terms. Consequently leaving many Angelinos without the ability to watch Laker games at their convenience.
