The Time Spent With My Mother ENG121 English Composition I March 31, 2014 The Time Spent With My Mother I believe in the importance of spending time with family. You never know when someone you love can be taken away from you in a blink of an eye. Unlike most people, I would rather spend time with my family instead of friends. Being with my family is like having my cake and eating it too. They are the closest relationship in my life, and the most important ones I will ever need. My mother was taken away from me when she was only 61 years old, this was too young for me to lose my mother that I loved so dearly. Now, I would give anything in my power to get a hug and spend time with her again. I miss her every day and losing her has changed my life forever. My Childhood My mother was a caring and giving person, she always showed me love and affection. I recall waking up every morning to the smell of fresh coffee brewing throughout the house, the scent was so strong that I often wondered if the factory was in my own backyard. I would walk down the stairs rubbing my eyes, as I cleared my vision and gazed into kitchen, she was always sitting there at the table drinking her coffee, smoking her cigarettes one right after another as if they were going to get up and walk away. She was always watching her favorite television shows, The Golden Girls and The Three Stooges, you could hear her laughter for miles as she chuckled at the mawkishly sentimental and overworked jokes. I often reminisce about sitting on the porch with her on those warm summer evenings, I could smell the lilac tree when the wind blew out of the east. My father planted that tree for her on their tenth anniversary, she treasured that shrub when it was in bloom every summer. We often watched
