Time Management: A Working Mother's Balance Between Work and Family Sharonda M Ewing COM 156 7/28/13 Denise Olivier As a working mother there are some very important things that women can do to help balance their career along with their family. Being a working mother has been challenging for me, but with a little prioritizing and discipline; the tasks of mom, wife, and employee can be made less stressful and complicated. Many across the world have many resources to help them with managing their personal and professional lives. Several time management articles have been writing by many different working mothers that are designed to help other working mothers. Establishing a weekly routing is an effective way for working mothers to balance their time between family and work. By listing all the things on a weekly calendar that they will need to do for a typical week, then scheduling those things for certain days of that week can make it easier to keep up with all of the tasks. For example: working moms should pick a day and time when the grocery store is not crowded and plan their schedule accordingly. If the dry cleaning needs to be dropped off on a specific of day of the week, this can be done on the route to work, which can save time. A working mother should plan out each day of the week according to the most important things that need to be handled first. Those can be marked with an asterisk so that they are sure to be taken care of first. While making out a weekly routine, working mothers should also be aware of how they are performing at work, and making sure not to slip. There are days when mothers have to stay up all night with a crying baby. This can cause the on-the-job performance to slip. Some things mothers can do when feeling overwhelmed is to take some personal days off from work. This time can be taken just for moms to handle their own
