1). STATIC KNEE Ex’s Position – Lying on back or long sitting on the bed Press the knee joint down in to bed by tightening the Quadriceps muscles, hold it for 10 sec and relax for 5 sec. Repeat as many as possible. 2). STRAIGHT LEG RAISING Ex’s [pic] Position – Lying on back or long sitting on the bed Lift the leg as shown in the picture and holds it for 10 sec (i.e. 10 counts) Then slowly keep the leg down on the bed, relax for 5 sec & start again. Repeat the Ex’s morning &evening 25 times. Progression Adding W.t. on ankle with W.t. cuff, sand bag or such alternatives can make progression. Initially starts with 1 k.g W.t. gradually increase up to 5 k.g. or more. (Depending on personal tolerance). Progression can also made by increasing the repetitions of Ex’s to 50 times or more gradually. 3). SHORT ARC Ex’s for Vasatus Medialis Muscle Strengthening Position – Lying on back or long sitting on the bed Keep a pillow or roll under the knee as shown in the figure and lift the foot up by tightening the knee extensor muscles, holds it for 10 sec (ie 10 counts) Then slowly keep the foot down on the bed, relax for 5 sec & start again. Repeat the Ex’s morning &evening 25 times. Progression Adding W.t. on ankle with W.t. cuff, sand bag or such alternatives can make progression. Initially starts with 1/2 k.g W.t. gradually increase up to 3 k.g. /more. (Depending on personal tolerance). Progression can also made by increasing the repetitions of Ex’s to 50 times or more
