The beliefs of W.E.B. DuBois and Marcus Garvey, as influenced by their background, had a profound effect on their life work, including the organizations they were involved with and the type of people they attracted. DuBois came from a more privileged background. His life work centered on improving the condition of African Americans, but he wanted to do this by working with liberal whites through the NAACP. His following attracted mostly upper class and intellectual blacks.
Media and Lifestyle The art on the silver screens transcended onto the clothing that woman wore to personify a certain independence. Woman felt stylish and sophisticated even under the unstable economic climate. Technicolor, colored film, was also breaking through, allowing audiences to see the colors that are in style for the season. The color champagne became a red carpet classic for Hollywood favorites such as Jean Harlow and Loretta Young (figs 1-2). He sure has mastered it because to me it flawless. There is just something about the painting that I catch myself staring, it’s just so beautiful. The Three paintings I chose were all unique in my eyes but had a couple of similarities as well. First off I found out that architectural and landscape paintings were very popular in the 19th century and the three artist I chose were landscapists. They also painted a lot of architectural paintings as well.
With that being said, on December 21, 1956, The Supreme Court declared segregation unconstitutional thanks to the contribution from many, but especially the King himself. Event: Between the Sheets Location: MLC Room 214 Time: 12:20 pm During this event, the speakers presented a particular album collection. I found it intriguing how the album covers could be interpreted several ways and had significant symbolism. One of the speakers mentioned that rose imagery symbolized beauty and purity. I also found it interesting that blond women were considered pure, while brunettes symbolized sensuality and temptation. I learned that these songs represented courtship, loss, and World War I.

The dark shadows and tones are a key feature in this piece as they give a silent and still atmosphere; everyone dressed in simple and drab colours except the Lady herself. She is dressed in a cream coloured silk dress that drapes over the cushion covering her legs and feet. This gives her an amount of elegance and dignity. There is the illusion of a bright light glowing on Lady Jane Grey; this light has possibly come from the sun shining through a window or perhaps Delaroche wanted to give the Lady subject centre stage and a graceful presence. In this painting your eyes are drawn to, most importantly, Lady Jane Gray but also the other four people in the background, everywhere else is dark and gloomy.
