You get to meet new people and actually be in the real world. It makes me have different views about my life other than what I had in my head about three years ago. I hope that my college life will be successful and I will learn lots of new things within the years. Now my last English experience was kind of a disaster, but I did learn a few things that I didn’t know that was important. I learned how to write a topic sentence and what its purpose was to it.
The Political Science program even helped me succeed in my schools AP course because it prepared me for future topics that I would eventually learn and most importantly the AP exam. Throughout the year I kept completing all the intricate assignments and by doing so I feel that challenging myself has benefited me for the future that awaits me. Before AP History I felt unaccomplished and that school was too easy. I used to complete my assignments and feel spiritless. The course made me realize that college wouldn't be cinch.
When I decided to go back to school, knew that college would help me refresh my brain in certain areas that I may need improvement on. I also returned to school because I want a job that will fit with me. Since I have been out of high school, I have had quite a few jobs. The jobs that were employed at, I knew that those jobs were what I did not want to have a career out of for the rest of my life. So, after all the different jobs I had back to back and me not being satisfied with either one.
It was a feat on its own being able to balance my time for school, sports, and family/friends. Now I had the challenge of balancing work, extra-curricular projects, and many other things that are connected with living the life of a college student. The equilibrium in my life was no more, but I was able to assess the situation and plan for the challenges ahead. I broke down the many commitments I had made to associations, and decided that I would balance my efforts accordingly so I could achieve success in the most important of my endeavors. My grades did take a slight decline during my first two years of college, for sports and work consumed large chunks of my time.
Since eighth grade I never really took anything the ConnCAP staff said to me seriously; it took me seventeen years to actually understand and realize how important college is and how important having a good education is. They have helped me in many ways by engaging me in meaningful learning experiences for the purpose of enhancing my basic skills and critical thinking. From grades eighth-twelfth, I’ve attended a ConnCAP Summer program for six weeks each summer. This has helped me improve my chances of competing in an advanced society by offering enrichment classes in the areas of math, science and English. During those six weeks I worked on material that helped me get ready for the next grade.
I try to study in between my classes during my two hour breaks on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays so I don’t fall behind in my schoolwork. Lastly for this section, I plan on changing up my study habits. In grade school all the way up until senior year of high school, I made it a habit to study and do homework in front of my television. Now, that will not happen. I am only going to study and do homework while sitting in silence or while listening to instrumental music.
It helped me overcome the struggles I faced in this new land, turning me into a realistic, social, and confident individual. By forcing myself to make friends in school, I became outgoing and independent, willing to interact with diverse classmates. As I did so, I realized that I had become friends with a lot of the people in my grade. In opening up, I found that the world was not nearly as scary or dreadful as I had feared. Instead, it was full of warmth and positive energy.
I was in for a big surprise. When middle school began, I thought I was right at first. The work was pretty easy and if I failed a test, my teachers would let me re-take it. However, when the first semester
Being the first person in my family to get a college degree makes me feel so good. Setting example for children and letting them see that mommy can do it is priceless. The things that we do in life as far as school wise are thing we can take us to the next level is just a lot of us lose hope we are not sure where to go. I though getting a high school diploma was fine for me. I felt school was not for me because I have dyslexic and, I feel people just don’t want to help me.
I have two younger brothers and two older sisters and although my sisters have created a comfortable lifestyle for themselves with just a high school education, I want to show my brothers how much further a college education can go. Also, both my parents have worked very hard throughout the years for my siblings and I, and I want to make them proud by being successful and showing them how much their love and support helped. With both of my sisters gone to live their own lives, I’m the oldest sibling still left at home with my brothers so it is important not to let them see me fail. Education is the key to life, so my parents say. It is the greatest backup plan when things go wrong and I completely agree with
