The play Midsummer’s Night Dream is no exception. There are several secretive characters that change mortals’ fates. The 3 main characters that symbolizes godly beings that change the mortal’s fate: Titania the Queen of the fairies, Oberon the King of the fairies, and mischievous Puck. Shakespeare enjoys using characters that are supernatural, for example in Macbeth, he chose the 3 witches to act our as ‘fate’ while in Midsummer’s Night Dream, there are the fairies. They are both imaginary figures which might be the reason why they are given the power to modify human’s fate and lifestyle.
Many people today, make careless decisions based on their impulsive and rash emotions which usually leads to disaster. In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Romeo Montague was a great example of this. His rash emotions and decisions caused him suffering and ultimately his own destruction. The fact that Romeo is overly dramatic, impulsive, and stubborn proves that he is nowhere near being admirable nor is he heroic. Commedia Dell'arte is a form of theatre characterized by masked types which began in Italy in the 16th century and was responsible for the advent of the actress and improvised performances based on sketches or scenarios and is the craft of improvisation. The characters that Moliere created seemed ridiculous because they deviate from decorum and the rules of Neoclassicism. The characters IL Capitano and Tartuffe both display similar characteristics in terms of them both being pretenious, cowardly liars that are very hypocritical.

Fetse plays the role of the fool in Twelfth Night. In the play he is hired by Olivia to be the jester and entertain her. His name even means “the fool”.

Jews in Shakespeare’s England would have been familiar with portrayals of Jews as villains and main source of mockery.
