1/17/14 This I Believe Set 1 “ I believe all patients, all human beings, are equal, and that I must try to care for everyone, even those who would rather die than consider me their equal” (Kamau 134). This talks about some of the strong racial prejudices people hold for one another. I chose this because I believe equality for all is very important in our lives. “ They think there is a special place for me somewhere for eternity, but I don’t believe them” (Kamps 137). I chose this because we may not always see our future and if we do it may become cloudy at times. We have to stay strong in our beliefs and never give up. When we give up, that is when all the open doors around us will close. “ But faith is a state of mind” (Keller 139). Religions are taught to us and we are brought of through these practices, but faith is something we have to learn on our own. Faith is the belief in something that you cannot yet see and I believe one must keep an open, faithful, state of mind. “ I believe that freedom is contagious” (Koh 141). Think of how many wars and revolutions have been started over the chance for freedom. Freedom is a way of life. Once you get a taste of freedom you are always wanting more. “Love is primal. It is comprised of compassion, care, security, and a leap of faith.” (Lantry 146) You cannot control your feelings and especially not love. Love is the deepest of all the emotions. Not being able to control this can be frightening, but there is plenty of love to go around. Reaction Faith, by definition, is having complete trust and confidence in someone or something. If we live our lives without faith they would be extremely lonely and unfulfilling, aspects of faith are all around us. We can specifically use it in our present mindsets, love and future.
