Every now and again the human population is graced with the presence of a few individuals whose thoughts are not controlled by the restraints of societal norms or acceptance. Thoughts that once unleashed into the world can stir a revolution or in some situations cause and nurture an evolution. Many of these thoughts or ideas revolve around the ability of realizing or identifying a problem, searching for/identifying solutions to the problem, and implementing a plan to correct the problem with the found solutions. While trying to think of candidates who fit this description a simple question had to be asked. How different would the world be today if these two people were never in it? Bill Gates and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr were both individuals who used the creative process to change the world that they saw at the time into the world we live in today. The creative thinking of these two men went a long way in changing the world as we know it through technology and changing the perceptions of others. Gates saw a need for software to make the home PC possible, while King was essential in defeating the injustices of inequality and segregation. Each looked at their specific problems from different angles in search of uncommon solutions. Both could visualize ideas and solutions to their respective issues and each displayed the patience to refine their ideas and solutions to overcome opposition. Bill Gates William Henry Gates attended public elementary school and the private Lakeside School where he discovered his interest in software and began programming computers at age 13. Contributions to society came early in life, while still in high school Gates and a friend started a company that built traffic counting computers which they sold to the city. Gates entered Harvard University in 1973 and during his stay he developed a version of the programming language BASIC
