The Renaissance, the Protestant Reformation and the Scientific Revolution were all major developments in the West from 1400 to 1700. Each played an important role for the West, by shaping up ideas, theories, and traditions. Each development evolved religious ideas, art, science, and basic guidelines of everyday living. We have advanced in technology and science through the roots of development that were passed down, we have also enhanced building styles, architect skills and artistic methods from the past. The West was lucky to have a starting guideline to work with in further making a adaptable world to live in. The Renaissance was composed into two parts, Humanism and arts. Humanism was more of a literary movement. It was to bring back classical Latin and later Greek, as well as the values that came with the language. Beginning with men and women living in the Italian city-states, where they saw “parallels” between their lives and the experiences of the city states of the ancient world. Humanism was a way to confront the crises and make best of the advances happening during the 14th and 16th centuries. Humanist wrote poetry, history, moral philosophy, and grammar books, which all related on the classical models. Through their role as educators, writers, and civil servants, professional humanist gave new ideas to the humanist guidelines of grammar, rhetoric, poetry, history and moral philosophy. By the end of the 15th century, the Humanism was a European phenomenon. A good command of classical Latin and some knowledge of Greek was one of the requirements of an educated person. The invention of the printing press in the 1440's, made the world letters more available to people who could read. The invention of mechanical printing gave rise to a communication revolution as significant as the worldwide use of personal computers today. The making of standardized texts
