Themes Of Voclav and Lena The most important and most recurring theme of Voclav and Lena is love and relationships; from the beginning of the book Voclav has had feelings for Lena, and those feelings carry on throughout the rest of the book. In the beginning of the book after Voclav has finally got Lena to become his assistant again he thinks " She will be his lovely assistant forever and one day his wife"(Tanner 41-42). This statement from the text show that Voclav has feelings for Lena and hopes to be with her forever and one day have her become his wife. This sets the stage for Voclavs' feelings for Lena and how he wont let things get in the way of him being with Lena; just before this, to get Lena has his assistant, he offered anything and finally offered to do her homework for her to be his assistant. He took on another work load to be with her and seems like he would do more if he had to. Later on in the story on Lenas' 17th birthday, Voclav asks Rasia, his mother, about the night she reported what was happening to Lena to the police, she replied back with a stern no and Voclav goes to his room to think about Lena and how she is doing. Voclav "feels indulgence to lie down on the bed and to think of Lena" showing that for him to lie down on his bed and to think about Lena is a good and soothing to his mind (Tanner 148). This also shows that Voclavs' love for Lena wasn't something lost to time and easily forgotten after CPS took her away from Trina. For Voclav having Lena as his assistant was a passion and he continued on doing magic I believe to keep the memory of Lena in his mind. To help prove this a quote is "things that are: 1. One day being a famous magician 2. Having Lena as my Lovely assistant..." Voclav believes that these to things are needed to live and magic is one part and Lena is the other (Tanner 247). And in the very end of the book after Voclav
