Because there is only a certain amount of treatment that a body can with stand. Her father starting thinking that he was a burden to his daughter so some of the treatment that he was taking he start refusing but his daughter would not give up on him. There are so many good things to say about Susan Wolf, but the best thing you can say about her is that she is a Angle sent from heaven just for her father. The story about her father death really touched me and after I read it the first time I had to read it again and then tell someone about it. It make you think what could you have possibly done in that situation.

After reading the novel it can be said that true love is real and Hurston definitely presented the idea that true love is difficult to attain. Janie’s first marriage to Logan Killicks was mostly determined by her grandmother’s vision of wealth and security for her granddaughter. This marriage forced Janie to grow up very quickly and discover what she desires with another man. At a young age Janie’s grandmother had Janie married off to Logan Killicks. After a couple months of marriage, Janie goes to visit her grandmother and her grandmother questions why she is there.
She follows it because she is now programmed to believe this is the way of life and in turn she has become extremely tentative. She was raised to believe that you needed a husband to take care of you, although she personally believed she would do fine without a husband. She struggles with this because as I stated earlier, she did not want to be the average woman that relied on a man for her every need, but as time passed she became exactly that. Even though she was unhappy with her being, she wanted her daughters to follow in her footsteps and find a supportive husband versus going out and being themselves. She was satisfied with never wanting for anything financially, so much so she allowed this to distract her from the fact that she was emotionally unfulfilled in every aspect of her life.

By conforming to the white man, he was able to stand out against the oppression and show everyone who he truly was, and what he truly possessed. He was granted an opportunity toward an education, and an opportunity to become a prominent black leader he had alluded to earlier in the story all because of his understanding of his role in his social setting.

Janie’s grandmother raised her as she grew into a woman. Nanny sparks Janie’s journey, to insure that she receives financial stability through marriage and she will not end up like her mother. Through the novel Janie wants independence but Nanny had different plans for Janie too marry right away.
