In 1991, the Fab Five of Michigan University men’s basketball team impacted America’s traditions and morals. These five young, outspoken, rash African Americans not only stormed the court, but the media too. Making Americans question all that they knew, the Fab Five’s “us against the world” attitude and controversial decisions revolutionized basketball, for better or for worse, all while leaving behind a legacy of family and love. Coming off a championship season in 1989, the Michigan Wolverines acquired what is coined to be the best recruiting class in college history. In 1991, Michigan signed five of the nation’s top fifty high school recruits, and thus began the Fab Five era.
I worked nights, which meant 9pm to 7am, but the girls knew i had kids at home, and so they would let me clock off early and head home. I don't know how i made it home most nights, bleary eyed and completely exhausted at 3 or 4 am. Only to wake at 6:30 and get the kids off to
Dominic Doyle English Creative Writing – Diary Entry Andrew McBrody September 25th 2015 I’m lucky to have you, diary. As you hide under my dirty, half thin disgusting excuse for a mattress. I come back to you every day without fail to scream and cry at the world in written form. I’m lucky to have you diary. Today, however, I had a change, something that will change my life forever and would make my family very happy.
As I wait for the last class to exit studio 154, I lightly smile to myself, remembering that this beautiful room is mine for the next 4 hours. As I walk inside, my heart skips a beat while I am hearing the wooden floor creak beneath my dance shoes. My bag and radio makes a distinct thump as I place them down by the mirror and begin to prepare myself for another journey to this place. My place. The place where no one can go but me; then I start to sashay around the room.
Tryouts began after school on a beautiful Monday afternoon. Instantly, I realized the skill of this team was way above what I had been accustomed to. For the first time, I began to feel unsure of my talent. The list was posted every morning following try outs. Every day I woke up and rushed to school with the anticipation that my name would not be there.
The sun was up and shining into my bed room window. I got up, looked around, and observed the horizon with a disgruntled look on my face; admiring it's beauty. I did not know it that chilly morning, when I turned my Tv to watch my favorite show "Despierta America" (Wake Up America) in English. And an a second all my splendor went down, it changed my perception about fear, my awareness about the national issues, and my view on the preciousness
I awoke to the sound of Frank Ocean’s melodic voice blasting through the speakers of my iPod alarm clock. Even the intoxicating sound of my favorite artist wasn’t enough to remind that today was Monday. I threw my pillows at the headboard of my bed, wiped the crust from my eyes and trudged towards the shower. The soothing smell of oranges from the body wash wasn’t enough to revive me. Everything I did felt so normal; it made me feel like an average high school student.

“He said he didn’t see anything that he could describe, just this feeling that someone was in the room watching him that he couldn’t shake. Finally, he shouted out ‘leave me alone, I have to be up early for work in the morning and I have to sleep!’ He said it was as though he could feel someone moving to the door and it just left, and he went to sleep. Weird!” The history of Concord’s Colonial Inn goes back literally to the founding of our country. As those of you who paid attention in history class will remember, Paul Revere’s destination on his famous ride was to Concord, Massachusetts, where he was to alert the locals that the British were coming to seize the local militia’s weapons and gunpowder, which was partly stored in a building which was later to become part of the Inn. Room 24 is in the adjoining building, which at the time housed the office and residence of Dr. Timothy
Every morning for two months I walk into the familiar main hallway; my footsteps echo against the once crowded linoleum floor. Opening the theatre doors, the blackness threatens to leak outside. Feeling my way to the light board I throw the light switch, the only light that bursts on is the stage light. I raise the house lights to a dimness that resembles the dawn in the morning. I walk to the lit stage, drawn to the light like a moth.
