Does the study of history is only valuable if it is relevant to our daily life, as the speaker mention? In my view it is certainly not the case. History is an integral whole. Both part of history- relevant to our daily life and not- have a great significance. It is even hard to distinguish them. Some may be directly relevant to out history life, some may be indirectly related to daily life, and some may not have a relation with today but have a strong influence on daily life in the future. To truly understand the significance of history, we should study both relative part and so-called irrelative part. First of all, it is true that studying the history which is directly relevant to our daily life has great significance for the reason that we can gain valuable information directly from it. The development of things has it own law and cycle so that we can generalize the experience of success and take lesson form failure. There is a saying that every subject tell us about what have happened. For instant, though studying the economics we can make better use of its law, in other word history, to serve our economical activities in the future. Besides through analyzing the cause of economical crisis which happened before the decision-makers can possible avoid making the same mistake. On the other hand, some history may not directly act on our daily life but having an indirect impact on it. Without realizing the indirect parts’ importance one are more likely to make unfair conclusion. Just like if we want to have a complete understanding of a person, then not only need we to study himself or herself but also we need to study his or her family, friends, even colleagues.
