The Value of Education in Life “If you think the price of education is expensive, try the price of ignorance.” Education has always been a major priority for me. I was brought up in a family that was centered on education. Both of my parents have college degree. I have a big family in India, which includes my uncle, aunt and cousins; they all are well-educated and has a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree. Ever since I have been old enough to really understand things, they have stressed how important it is to be educated. So growing up, I found education to be a vitally important part of my life. I have many educational goals and dreams to study at a reputated university. I wish to study my chosen major which is Dental Hygienist because of three main reasons, it’s a successful career, have flexible hours, and has many career opportunities after completion of my course. My education is what continues to allow me to grow and mature. Dental Hygienist is a successful career. I have done a lot online research and found out that yearly salary for a Dental Hygienist is great. On a website, while I was surfing, I found an interesting survey where they asked some dentists, “What is the average base hourly pay for your dental hygienist?” The average dentist response was thirty-six dollars per hour; which I think is a good salary for a beginner or who just graduated. General dentists in the survey reported paying their dental hygienists more than specialists do. I would prefer working at a general dentist’s office after I complete my bachelor’s degree because I am more interested in General and Cosmetic Dentistry, in particular. In Washington D.C., the average salary for a Dental Hygienist is three-hundred and fifty per eight hour a day.
