“The Untouchables” Movie Review In this thriller, the star studded cast of Robert DeNiro, Kevin Costner, and Sean Connery, portrays the battle on the streets during the prohibition era in Chicago. Elliot Ness is a new Treasury worker who is put in charge of cracking down on the underground bootlegging business. After all hope is lost when a bust is unsuccessful, Ness is about to throw in the towel until he receives help from Sean Connery’s character, Officer Jimmy Malone. Al Capone is played by Robert DeNiro who does a great job being a smug, arrogant business man who is in charge of distributing alcohol to the city. He has a monopoly of alcohol so he sells it to the people of Chicago at higher prices to bring in higher revenue. Although DeNiro plays the bad guy in the film, I personally like his character because I am a fan of his work and he does a great job playing the role of Al Capone. Early in the film, Al Capone is doing an interview with the press which shows his arrogance and that he is not scared of the Police because he is so powerful. I think Kevin Costner does a good job of portraying a prohibition officer who is nervous of failing his new job. Elliot Ness is new to the prohibition scene and feels like he has to make an impact right away so he puts a lot of pressure on himself to put away the big dog, Al Capone, right away. Ness is a character who has a lot of eyes watching him so he puts lots of time and thought into each action he takes. I am not really a fan of Kevin Costner, but he did a good job of portraying Elliot Ness. Sean Connery plays the role of Officer Jimmy Malone. Malone is a seasoned veteran of the force who knows how the system and people around him work. He uses this knowledge to help Elliot Ness in his conquest to take down Capone and his bootlegging business. I like Sean Connery, and his role in the film makes me respect him more
