Muslims tend to treat women so unfairly due to these scriptures written in the holy book. The Muslim beliefs are strong and whatever is written in the Qur’an, is the truth to them and what they act upon. Most of what is written in the Qur’an can cause many Muslims to look at women as if they are creations like the animals, plants, etc. that are brought to the world by Allah. They also believe that women lack many of the traits that men possess, along with gratitude and intelligence.
Why does the young Fatima prefer to wear her Tunisian clothes to the Western dresses her mother likes her to wear? Why does her mother want her to wear Western clothes? Fatima does not want to worry about dirtying and disarranging the Western type dresses. She would rather wear her traditional, comfortable clothing that does not require much attention. Her mother wants her to wear Western clothing because she does not want her daughter to follow tradition, and believes that clothing can change the way people view her.
There is a struggle for equality especially in the Islamic countries where women have no right to be equal citizens to men, where women still live under the direct control of their husband, their father, or their brother, where the Koran is often used by men in power to justify their treatment of women: “Tell the believing woman to lower her gaze and be modest, and to display of their adornment only that which is apparent and to draw their veils over their bosoms”. Marianne Lyles studied the issue of the woman in the Islamic world which she presented in her article entitled The Struggle for Equality: Islam and Its Effects on Women. She claimed: “In Islamic countries today, women are forced to wear clothes that cover their entire body, including their face. It is hypocritical the way women are treated in the Muslim world because Muhammad supported certain rights for women. He also put an end to female infanticide and slavery.
In some countries, women have been given the right to even run for the office of presidency, and men are not up in arms over a female not being in some type of veil. Although all this good has been done, and progress seems to be making its way into the Islamic radical traditions, some countries are still in the dark, and do not seem to be accepting new ideas very easily or even at all. Afghanistan, although with all the American presence in the country, has been able to fully accept a position of power for women. Women are not given an opportunity their and education is neglected in some
This is the perception of Muslim women that I have been exposed to for most of my life. The media presents to me all I have ever known of the Middle East; women covered in burqas, or wrapped up completely in their hijab. The veil, and women in general, has become a symbol for the inferiority of the Middle East. But, like a person can be wrong about a woman who wears glasses, the world as a whole can be very wrong about the real meaning of the veil, and about their perception of the women of Islam. Leila Ahmed’s The Discourse of the Veil explores the real source of women’s struggles in Islam versus the purely symbolic ones that the West concentrates its critique on.
Moreover, she discusses the Koran (an ancient Islam text) and how it teaches that no one should be judged buy their looks, gender, money or privilege but by an individuals character. As equally important, the Koran also teaches the Muslim people that all men and women are equal. Mustafa's culture plays a significant factor in her decision to wear the hijab, as does the freedom that the hijab from society's definition of beauty. She elaborates further by noting that it is impossible to meet the males expectations of beauty as this can lead to a poor self image. Mustafa further discussed the Western world's perceptions of the hijab means that the Muslim women
If women were to step out of their own determined “role” they’re then automatically considered as outcasts by society. For example, if a woman doesn’t uphold the correct expected feminine figure or appearance and they happen to have more of a masculine feature, people inevitably assume that they’re a “lesbian” or “transgendered”. In conclusion society just isn’t embracing individuality or differences, which is what everyone needs. Society itself needs to get over what they think is right and to let others act the way they

Marriage forms the sole basis for sexual relations and parenthood. However, a different aspect is the disvalue in women society. The rights of women in Muslim culture, continue to generate much media attention in the West. Muslim women are often portrayed as inferior beings, desperately in need of liberation from the Muslim patriarchal culture that prevents their progress. As many cultures language is unique.
This will result in women losing the right to voice their views when it comes to issues regarding marriage, sexuality, health, etc… Solutions 1. I believe, in this situation, one solution would be to create awareness about the finer aspects of religion: for instance, how it has contributed much to society in the form of hospitals, orphanages, nursing homes, and schools. Along with that religious activists must show how religion has given many people great happiness and a sense of belonging/community. This shows that religion has the potential to be a force of good, and that oppression is a religion itself and cannot be associated the core principles of every religion. Religious leaders/people, in this situation, must show the world that bringing one belief down to uplift another is not a solution, for the two beliefs must put aside their differences and work hand in hand to battle
