“The Treasure of Lemon Brown Essay” Did you know that 66% homeless citizens are usually unemployed? “The Treasure of Lemon Brown” is a story of a boy named Greg who meets a homeless, wise, old man. He teaches him two valuable lessons; which are to respect your family and appreciate them, and that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. What interested, and lured me into this short story was that it had a well-developed moral, or theme. The fictional story takes place in Harlem, New York and its point of view is third person limited for Greg only. The setting of the short story took place in Harlem, New York where some strange things happen sometimes. The setting in the story was very important to help mold the mood in order for the story to rise and flow until it gets to the climax. For example, the scene is set when Greg goes into the warehouse, he only enters to take shelter from the rain. The theme was also one of the key elements in which made this short story so magnificent because it had explained the two morals. Those were one man’s trash is another man’s treasure and also to respect what you have and be thankful for it. Surprisingly an old man named Lemon Brown had taught these two valuable lessons to a young boy who had by chance entered the building he lived in. The figurative language also plays a major role in “The Treasure of Lemon Brown”. It does this by adding taste and rhythm to it, especially the personification. For example “The dark sky, filled with angry, swirling clouds”, or “Gusts of wind made bits of paper danced between the parked cars”. The point of view in “The Treasure of Lemon Brown” was third person limited and only describes Greg’s thoughts of feelings to the reader. The point of view was key in the story because without much detail about everyone else, we were able to zoom the scope in on Greg more and examine the minor
