In 1325, Ibn Battuta set off for his hajj to Mecca reluctantly in fear of leaving his parents, when he made his travels from his home in Tangier to Mecca; a journey of 3,000 miles, he became curious about the world around him as he traveled through the cities of Jerusalem, Aleppo and Damascus. Ibn Battuta made the hajj to Mecca seven times, the second time he made the hajj he stayed and studied with Mecca’s great scholars. After numerous hajj’s Ibn Battuta set off for India. Ibn Battuta traveled to India in hopes of joining the court of the Sultan of Delhi. Ibn Battuta traveled through Egypt, Syria, Turkey, and Russia before he arrived in Delhi; where he served as a qadi for the sultan for eight years.
A few years after John’s birth, I learned of father’s death in 1729. In 1736, I have my first daughter, Katherine and Marie three years after that. In 1740, I had an interview with my brother Stephan Williams for the first time in 36 years. During this meeting, I agreed to spend the summer with him in New England. I went with my husband and others in the tribe, all in Indian costume.
They lived there for about a year. During this time, Joe's mother contacted her brother in law who was already in America and asked him to help them to come to America. When they arrived at Ellis Island, they ran into difficulties because the administrators wouldn't let deaf people into America, and Joe is deaf. Joe and his mother went to Venezuela, South America for three months before they were finally admitted into America in 1947, under the Hispanic quota. When they arrived in America, they found out that Joe's aunt and uncle also survived the war.

Within a year already half of the men pass away, but why? It was spring of 1806 king James had sent gentlemen to Virginia to sought the riches that could lay ahead, or any natives to convert Christian, and to create the first new colony. They settle by a river that they call James river.

In the late 19th century and early 20th century millions of immigrants traveled to America, I for one was one of the Russian families who migrated along with my family. It was 1916 and I was 12 years old when my guardians told me to pack at least 3 important things in the treasure chest. We had to pack light, so I had to be wise with my descison of what to carry on. The three things I chose to pack where :(1) clothing (2) shoes (3) photos. Before going on board we all had to create a passport, when that was good to go, we were all set to get on the boat and sail.
When Marco was only six years old, his father Niccolò and his uncle Maffeo left for a journey to Cathay (China). By the time they returned, he was 15. When Marco was 17, he accompanied his father and uncle on their second journey to Asia. They had an advantage over other travelers of the time: the emperor Kublai Khan had presented them with a golden tablet a foot long and three inches wide, inscribed with the words "By the strength of the eternal Heaven, holy be the Khan's name. Let him that pays him not reverence be killed."
In the book, there is compassion between Shylock and Antonio. Bassanio takes a bond out from Shylock for Antonio to go see Portia, and try and gain her hand in marriage. However, Shylock gave Antonio three months to pay back to bond, which is 3,000 ducats, or he’ll take a pound of flesh from Antonio. He ends up picking the correct chest, which Portia’s father set up to choose who would marry his daughter. However, he didn’t pay the bond back in time.
Historical Recount of Marco Polo’s Travels Marco Polo(1254-1324) was an Italian merchant who travelled the world famous “Silk Road” and connected the European and Asian civilisations. (timeline) Marco Polo was born in Venice to the son of a rich family, who provided him with a good education, especially in language: Italian and French, literacy skills and arithmetics. In 1271, when Marco was seventeen, he joined his father, Nicolo Polo and uncle, Maffeo Polo on their second trip to the East. This time they changed the route and passed through Armenia, Persia, Afghanistan, the Pamier mountains and finally they reached the Gobi desert. After this long journey of three years, they arrived in China and met Kublai Khan.
Anthropology 101 September 5th, 2012 Anthropologist: Clifford Geertz Clifford Geertz was born on August 23rd in the year of 1926. He grew up in the city of San Francisco, and when he was three years old his parents divorced and was raised by a distant relative in California. Once Geertz turned seventeen he joined the U.S. navy and served from 1943-1945. After World War II, he attended Antioch College where he wanted to major in English and become a writer. Geertz believed that English limited his abilities and instead majored in philosophy.
