In the poem “Singh Song!”, the poet uses repetition to show the persona of Singh as being very personal and intimate when he spends the little time that he has with his “newly bride”. The repetition of the word “baby” tells the reader that Singh is happy being married to his wife and that he gives her a high status in his life. The repetition of “my bride” is triple refrained which perhaps suggests that Singh has a surprising nature about his wife. This creates an interesting character as it tells us that he is willing to stop working and go against his father’s orders just to spend time with his wife. Despite the criticism he receives from his customers, Singh seems to hold his wife as a major and main priority in his life and could suggest that his emotional and mental wellbeing depends on his wife.
I believe John had a genuine concern and love toward his wife but not wise in his treatments of her mental health. He missed the mark in his Isolation treatments toward his wife mental condition. As the Author cites “John does not know how much I really suffer, he knows there is no reason to suffer, and that satisfies him”. Moreover, John tried very hard to make his wife comfortable at the house even having his sister help, although she didn’t like it. “There comes John's sister.
He thinks often about letters she wrote him, he thinks about whether or not she is a virgin and even though he loves her very much and longs to be with her, she doesn’t say in her letters that she feels the same. He next moves from Lt. Cross’s thoughts of Martha to what the soldiers carry with them, both physically and mentally, Starting with Lt. Cross’s letters from Martha and the two pictures of her, the first picture is of her playing tennis and the second is of her standing against a wall, he often thinks of who took the second picture, this leads him to wonder if Martha is a virgin or not, though he prefers to think of her as a virgin. O’Brien moves on to other members of Lt. Cross’s platoon beginning with Henry Dobbins who is a big man and there for carries extra food, Ted Lavender who is always very afraid and so he carries a lot of ammunition and tranquilizer pills, and Kiowa a Native American who has a distrust for white men, he carries a hunting hatchet, the New Testament and moccasins. Henry Dobbins carries a machine gun and his girlfriend's pantyhose. Dave Jensen carries soap, dental floss, foot powder, and vitamins.
But I think he was still a little confused realizing that his dad still loved him. but was of with another woman and had a baby and how he would have feelings for this baby he adores his dad but hates him at the same time. One passage in the paragraph witch Anh recited was “ when you find the right girl marry her.” Witch is what his dad use to tell him and the main reason Anh went to see his father because he had found the one. And he desperately wants to tell his father and his girl friend is encouraging him witch is touching. As you know Anh still cares about his father even though he wont admit it witch makes me look back on my life.
Even Norman has no qualms about accepting this gift even though he is not considered a violent person. Before Lavender’s death Cross idealized war, he was more concerned with his love for Martha. He would daydream about her not taking his duties as lieutenant seriously. Lt. Cross doesn’t fear death but of disappointing and failing to protect his men. He feels personally responsible for the death of Lavender; he thinks that if he had been paying more attention, Lavender’s death could have been prevented.
The next similarity both Oedipus and Othello shared is their passionate love for their family. Oedipus loved and cared for his family despite what the blind prophet had foretell him of his fate but he didn’t care for his own sake. As for Othello, he loved his wife Desdemona so much and he was so passionate about it too. There are two examples that showed Oedipus and Othello their passionate love for their family. The first example, the ending of Oedipus the King was when Oedipus was kneel to the ground and ashamed in the
However, he was still able to go through his life like that. The quote doesn't apply to All Quiet on the Western Front because Paul Baumer and his friends trusted the officials and this ended up leading to the death of all of them. "... It is impossible to go through life without trust..." This quote does not apply to The Catcher in the Rye because Holden Caulfield, the main character believes everyone is phony and doesn't trust anyone which is a major flaw. Holden’s major flaw affects his life
The lists also describe the emotional baggage each soldier carried, such as First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross’s (the leader of the squad) love for a girl back home. O’Brien’s use of lists and the repetition gives the reader a good impression of the lifestyle of the soldiers in Vietnam without outwardly and directly saying so, subsequently giving him a stronger argument by allowing the reader to attain the understanding of the situation on their own. The lists O’Brien uses in the story give clarity to the setting of the emotional and physical setting the story takes place in. When one thinks of a list, the natural conclusion is a dull and repetitive page of words, possibly bulleted or in some other such order, but never really all that interesting to read. O’Brien uses this to his advantage to give the reader a true sense of what the experience in Vietnam was for the common soldier, while at the same time not describing it outright, which is something he says later in the story cannot be done in simple words.
His wife, Helen, loves him and tries to make him feel better by going on saying that someone will come to help them, but Harry knows that no one is going to come and he also knows that he is going to die. He tries to tell this to Helen but it hurts her to hear this and she is not ready to believe it. Harry never loved Helen but with death nearing, he realizes how much she loves him and so doesn’t want to have an argument just before he dies. He doesn’t want to eat nor does he want to move his cot at night because he knows that it is useless, but just because of Helen he eats a little. He can feel death around and his only regret was that he couldn’t follow his passion of writing.
He had also proposed to her daughter but had been rejected again. In the modern age, however, his works became more realistic and free from the mystic beliefs of his early years. Summary: Yeats’ poem “When You Are Old” demonstrates that you won’t notice the real value of the things you have until you don’t have them anymore. The speaker of the poem addresses his beloved saying that when she is aged she should read a particular book which will remind her of her youth. She will remember the people who had loved her grace and her beauty with either real or fake sentiments in the past, and also that one man who had loved her soul unconditionally as she grew old and the way she looked changed.
