Acheron loved Artemis so much that he was willing to allow her dark side to inflict scars emotionally and internally, which is extremely saddening. When diamonds were first proclaimed to be beautiful, everyone felt a need of entitlement. When a woman or man is deemed beautiful there is no stopping that onlooker that feels eligible to be near him or her. There is a thin line between love and obsession and I believe beauty is a significant factor in the comparison. Beauty does not have to be physical at all it can be spiritually.
Edmund was having an affair with my wife and of course she was in love with him. So much for the great love I did bear her. Did she ever feel the same for me? Not only had I been displaced before but to make things worse she’d wanted the bastard to eradicate me. I mean, I knew she was a manipulative bitch, I just thought she may have still had some feelings towards me.
The causes of her death was the buildup of guilt in her. In this quote Lady Macbeth was trying to wash off her guilt by using the word blood in comparison. She feels remorseful for her husband sin. They have killed many innocent people to cover up their past faults. Thus this was what she meant by not even the perfume of Arabia can cover up her guilty sin.
Daisy grabs all of the shirts and starts to cry because she loves wealth and expensive cloths. Daisy also knows if she just stayed with Gatsby she could have an amazing life but be in love at the same
Curley’s wife’s obsession with herself ultimately leads to her death. She knows Lennie is supposed to stay away from her, but thrives on his attention and wants his praise for her soft hair. It is not coincidental that she ends up losing her life because she didn’t want Lennie to mess up her hair. This final event sums up Curley’s wife’s role fairly neatly. Steinbeck presents Curley as a woman with huge dreams and hopes who aspires to be famous in Hollywood and life a king size life.
She is nothing more than her money to Gatsby, because it is for her money that Gatsby is in ‘love’ with her. | “It faced- or seemed to face- the whole eternal world for an instant, and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favour.”Ch3 (pg32) | This echoes the quote about Daisy in Ch 1 pg 8 that stated that she had a way of “promising there was no one else in the world she so much wanted to see” than the person she looked at. This parallel indicates Gatsby and Daisy’s abilities to manipulate and shape the people around them into being enchanted by them. This is also evidence for Nick being in admiration (read as gay for) of Gatsby, as he dislikes this trait in Daisy, but finds it positively “gorgeous” in Gatsby.
we imitate and rod her adulate envy admire neglect scorn. Leave alone invade, fill ourselves with her. we love her, we say and if she isn’t careful we may even kill her.” The poem shows us that the public manipulates and controls her. They are ready to destroy her if she is not careful enough. Accordingly, Helen in “Helen in Hollywood,” is used by the cosmetics advertisement.
Levy’s “naivety” (in her own opinion at least)of what a real marriage is like is totally shattered by what a marriage should be in her own terms. Besides that, Levy really helps the audience receive an image that their relationship (Levy’s and her fiancé) was just like any other one, because they would fight, bicker, and love all at the same time. One particular example of this would be the small scene in which they are picking wedding dresses, and Amy (her fiancé) really sees the wedding as an important piece, therefore she is incredibly picky over Levy’s dress, and generally other elements of the wedding, just like any other couple. Levy stated“ I modeled a low-cut pale-gold dress with spaghetti straps and a gauzy skirt from Mission. ‘Nice!’ said Amy.
In turn, this made everyone think of her works as pedophiliac. “Mann has been accused of building her reputation [as an artist] on the exploitation of her children” (Higonnet, 403). Despite critics’ destructive interpretations of her work, I strongly believe that Mann embodies both the ideal characteristics of a feminist artist and being a good mother to her children. Not only has Mann made a huge impact in the arts, creating a female aesthetic through “the violation of a gender role,” but she also manages to find a median between her work and her children, ultimately combining the latter to produce a collaborative relationship to encapsulate one of the greatest themes of American art: family (Higonnet, 417). Sally Mann
Cleopatra VII used her charm, wisdom and sexuality to rule and increase her kingdom through the help of men who were medley in love with her. She had a power over men which she used to her own advantage ,,It was a pleasure merely to hear the sound of her voice, with which, like an instrument of many things, she could pass from one language to another,,. (What kind of women p.5). Sources have the same opinion to the fact that Cleopatra’s charm was outstanding and her presence astonishing. (bibliography p3) She also knew how to look her best and even wrote a book about cosmetics.
