Czar Alexander knew he needed to have the ability to trade and purchase goods with both sides. The economical reasons why Russia wanted the war to end was generally for the trade of products such as hemp, sail linen, tobacco and iron that were arriving in colonial ports years before the Revolutionary War began and did not stop once the war started (“American History”, 1998) The colonists and Russia saw Americans and the British as excellent trading partners, particularly because both nations had ample resources to offer. The War of 1812 had a devastating effect on commerce. The US trade restrictions leading up to the war dramatically decreased American exports. The British blockades and direct attacks on tobacco stores and other US trade goods made it difficult to conduct commerce during the war ( Spangled Banner Historical Trail, 2013).
The British introduced a parliamentary system of government to the Indians. As stated in document 3 by Romesh Dutt, “Englishman has given the people of India the greatest human blessing – peace.” They have introduced Western Education. This has brought an ancient and civilized nation in touch with modern thought, modern sciences, and modern life. This means that the British have positively affected India because they brought over their knowledge and educated the natives, which results in more skilled workers. They also modernized India with their economic system of Mercantilism, and their parliamentary form of government.
Providing the Confederacy with war supplies influenced Southern power, and their assertiveness towards the Union proved beneficial to international relations. The victory of the Union encouraged the forces in Britain that demanded more democracy and public contribution into the political system. Rather than an outbreak of war, relations between America and Britain were ultimately improved when the idea of widespread famine threatened England. The American Civil War proved difficult but eventually beneficial for Britain, giving them the opportunity to check their growth and rise to power. Keeping within British tradition and diplomacy, Britain never openly partnered with the South and their involvement in the war was to protect their own people, economy, actions and
Domestic Policies ! Roosevelt: As a progressive president, Roosevelt designed his domestic policy to fight against corruption and big industries so that the common man would recieve assistance. One of his implemented policies was the Square Deal which was targeted to improve the standard of living and extend control over large corporations and trusts. The ‘busting’ of the Standard Oil trusts was one of Roosevelt’s famous break ups of Northern Securities. !
They helped pave the way for a whole range of Government-led welfare reforms. Independently of each other, two wealthy businessmen, Charles Booth and Seebohm Rowntree, sponsored major investigations into the extent and causes of poverty in British cities, which provided Britain with correct information on poverty within the country. This had led historians to argue that the work that Booth and Rowntree did during 1906 and 1914 was the main reason for the Liberals introducing social reform. However, to establish whether or not this is the case, it will also
As the war had just ended people were looking to a government who could relate with them and what the Labour government promised seemed to be ideal. The people saw Churchill as a great war time leader however he could not identify with what the everyday ordinary man needed plus, he had a hostility to socialism and around this time people were encouraging socialism. Both sources are election appeals and they both recognise Labours
In comparison the Nina (Columbus’s biggest ship) was a mere 90 by 30 feet. The size of the Chinese ships at this time was what the Europeans conjured up in the Victorian era over 2 centuries later. Simply in knowing that you could say that the Chinese were equipped well enough to make it across the Pacific. This plus Chinese advanced maritime skills and archeological finds supporting even earlier voyages all the way to Easter Island. Saying that is based on opinion and assumptions, so here’s the proof an amateur historian, found detailed maps, logs and accounts of voyages to the Americas in the early 1400’s.
Wilson, too, supported the Progressive movement. Despite Roosevelt’s attempts to bring the trusts under control, they were even more powerful in 1913 than they had been in 1900. Wilson believed that only action by the federal government could halt this process. He called his policies ”The New Freedom”. They were put into effect by a series of laws passed between 1913 and 1917.

All rail activity on several mainlines, including BNSF's line along the Mississippi River and CP's mainline through Wisconsin is suspended until flood waters recede.
Explain why the USA entered WW1 There were several reasons the USA joined WW1 on the side of the allies, one such reason was the idea that it was a “fight for democracy” and that the USA would be saving Europe from oppressive administrations. This was only possible because Tsarist Russia had left the War leaving only France, a republic and Great Britain, a constitutional monarchy. This enabled the USA to join on a morality basis in that now all the Allies were “democratic”. This coincided very well for the USA in that they were already establishing heavy trade links with the Allies in that trade with them increased massively while trade with Germany has fallen to just 10% of what it had been in 1914. In this way the USA had a strong affinity
