The color of the background is light green with some elements of yellow, and it creates an illusion of a light-source. The orange and green colors are very intense. The colors of the carnations contrast with the subdued brown color that is in the foreground and is acting as a "base" to the carnations. The lines of the painting are well defined. Although the flowers are asymmetrical, the artist has tried to create an element of balance by placing them almost at the middle of the painting, and through the mixing of intense and dark colors.
She is very slim and frail looking. Her arms are thin with the far one either in shadow or possibly covered by a brown shawl. Picasso has only depicted one breast clearly, which has an erect nipple making her look cold. The other breast is merely hinted at by the use of shading and highlighting on her dress. The effect of this painting is to create a sombre mood, showing a girl who looks quite poor.
Blanche’s body language also suggests an ambiguous manner- she sits completely upright very stiffly, with her shoulders slightly hunched and her legs pressed close together. She seems very nervous and cautious, and clutches her purse as though her life depended on it. Williams has purposely made her laugh nervously a lot, and seems to lie about herself a lot to her sister. She is an obvious alcoholic, but seems to resent this fact, and tries very hard to keep this from Stella. There is also a lot of symbolism in everything about how Blanche is described.
The painting is of a woman peering over her shoulder, she is wearing a hat with a pink bow and is also wearing a scarf, in the background there is a pink parasol around strong blocks of cold colours. Ferguson has used strong rectangular shapes in the background. In my opinion the focal point is the persons face as it is smooth against the rough background which creates a strong contrast and makes it stand out. In the painting you can only see the woman’s face and shoulders and she takes up about a third of the painting. Ferguson has used oil on board to create this portrait.
The lines and strokes accentuate the beauty of this artwork. The black parallel lines and the series of pink shapes create movement and also they frame the picture. The artwork is balanced in such a way that directs the eyes to the heart of the artwork. The light back ground emphasizes the dark and deep tones of the subject. The artist did a brilliant job tying all the pieces, colors, shapes and patterns together.
By definition, Barbie is a trademark doll representing a slim, shapely young woman, especially one with blond hair, blue eyes, and fair skin (Barbie). Though, this definition of Barbie clearly leaves out the specific unrealistic proportional measurements of her “shapely body”. The definition also forgets to mention that it’s nearly impossible to survive with Barbie’s figure. Barbie has also evoked the body dysmorphic disorder within many individuals. This disorder is a disease, which causes the person to obsess over something they don’t like about their body—which may be extremely minor or unnoticeable to others (Hoskins, Stephanie).
Cucumbers have the same pH as the skin so they are a great treat. They restores the protective acid mantle and also possess nourishing, hydrating, and astringent properties. Cucumber juice is a source of silica and often recommended to improve the complexion and health of your delicate skin. The popular GLAMGLOW Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment mask has cucumber as one its ingredients. It's up for grabs for £49.99 at glamglowmud.co.uk.
These all link together in creating a cohesive poster that’s appealing to the audience. Also because the colours are so mellow and not overly bright it suggests that the poster is trying to target an older and more mature. The tittle is a maroon colour, which makes it stand out amongst the other things in the poster because it’s the only time maroon is used in the poster. This also makes it easier for the reader to identify. The tagline, “What if you had a second chance to find true love?” engages the reader as it proposes a question to them.
This is all around a warm and inviting piece. Mattisse’s painting of Harmony in Red is quite the opposite as far as technique used in the painting. Like La Desserte Mattisse used oil on canvas for his medium. Mattisse recreated La Desserte as Harmony in Red in 1908-09, 10 years later after he painted La Desserte. Mattisse used bright vivid colors that really catch the eye and stand out.
This is very evident in Water Lilies - because through out the whole painting - you can see that many of the colors are mixed with either a different shade of the same color, or a different color entirely. The consistency of oil paint is also very beneficial
