The Shipwreck The title of the work I selected is The Shipwreck by Hubert Robert. This painting was painted prior to 1808. I would classify this painting as a sign of hope; due to the way the characters are portrayed. The major focal point of the painting is the people; all of the lines in the painting lead the viewer to the people. The brightest section of the painting also surrounds the people. The light is important because it reflects the importance of the people in the painting. The brightness surrounding the people reflects the hope and strength the people have in surviving the tragedy they are currently involved in. There are several people standing on the rocks in this tremendous storm. All of these people are out on these rocks looking to help others and remain strong and hopeful for the others. He is carrying some type of rope; it appears that he is extending his arm and tossing the rope to someone to save them from the rocks. All of these people have a common goal of survival and to remain hopeful in this tragic situation. They must come together as a community to find hope and to save all of those in the shipwreck. They now realize and will cherish their lives more after this event and discover they now have the ability to fully focus on finding their meaning of life in this
