Chris Aber Period 2 2/7/2012 What Are the Characteristics of a successful Entrepreneur What It Takes To Be An Entrepreneur An entrepreneur by definition is one who organizes, manages, and assumes the risks of a business or enterprise. There are many different variables that are put together to make a successful entrepreneur. One cannot just call them self and entrepreneur, they have to be dedicated and committed to what the doing. An idea alone will not cut it, you have to have perseverance and capitalize on it. Having a good idea isn’t always enough, you need to set goals and standards that exceed your own personal expectations and work had to achieve them. Working hard is key to reach your goal. “The entrepreneur always searches for change, responds to it, and exploits it as an opportunity.”- Peter F. Ducker this quote is saying that a change is an opportunity to do better. If something isn’t working a good entrepreneur will keep his mind set on it and work day and night till it is resolved. Another aspect of being a good entrepreneur is self-confidence, a person with high-self esteem has the courage to do what he or she believes is right despite what others tell them. This also means they have the confidence to communicate with others and to take criticism positively and make improvements on it. The ability to communicate with others is also an important factor in becoming a successful entrepreneur. For example Sam Walton, the founder of the Walmart chain was an avid communicator. Sam would personally go down to his stores and talk with customers and employees to see if there was anything he could correct on. Robert F.
