The rich got richer, and the poor got poorer. Over the last years, the split between rich and poor has grown considerably in New York. But in New York the city is not divided into a rich half and a poor half. The wealthy and poor are living right next to each other. Even so, there is a big difference of a rich persons life and of a poor persons life. The stories “Twelve”, “Tuesday” and “The Story of Kidd McDuff’s Girl” depict the difference between rich and poor in New York. There will be focused on Mike and Jessica from “Twelve”. There will also be focus Annie Noonan and Kid McDuff from “The Story of Kid McDuff’s Girl”. These persons show the inequality between rich and poor in New York.

Mike, also called “White Mike”, is the main character in “Twelve”. He is a drug dealer, who circles around in New York to sell drugs to the rich teens. Mike has become pretty wealthy because of his success as a drug dealer. “He wears a dark blue Brooks Brothers overcoat that hangs long on him.” This coat symbolizes success and that he is rich because Brooks Brothers is a pretty expensive label, and kind of “high class”. Funny enough, he is an intelligent 17-year-old boy, who never used drugs, including alcohol. ”White Mike is clean. White Mike has never smoked a cigarette in his life. Never had a drink, never sucked down a doobie.” His mother is dead and his father is never around, which leaves Mike to himself. Mike is not a very emotional guy. He don’t care selling drugs to people that he can see is having a hard time and is addicted to the drugs. Mike’s only focus is to get richer than he already is through drug dealing, of course.
Jessica from “Twelve” is a pretty girl, but not as hot as Sara Ludlow though. She is looking healthy, and she doesn’t wear much makeup. She is very satisfied with how her body looks. It is easy to see that Sara is wealthy, because she just got a nose job, nice clothes and Calvin Klein underwear: “The nose job helped. […] Tonight she wears dark...
