The relevance and effectiveness of the Executive club British Airways has a frequent flier programme called the Executive Club. Individuals who travel frequently can join the executive club to earn Avios points. These Avios are used like currency in the Executive Club an can be collected when you fly with British airways or their partner airlines, stay at specific hotels, rent cars or even while you shop. There are four (4) levels of membership in the executive club blue membership, bronze membership, silver membership and gold membership. It is quite relevant for British Airway to have a frequent flier programme because it helps to keep and gain loyal passengers; especially business travellers. Passengers like to know that they have benefits to gain when they are spending their money. Incentives to fly with an airline is the most popular and successful marketing strategy devised to build loyal customers and sell the high priced seats (Chin, 2002). Members of British Airways Executive club, have access to great rewards. They can get upgrades; discounts while shopping or even stay at a hotel for free depending on the level of their membership. A British Airways frequent flyer programme is also relevant and effective because, it can be costly to attract new members. It is better to spend money on the existing passenger than spend trying to attract new passengers. The FFP helps to retain the existing members. It’s also the airlines way of saying thanks to its passengers. Even though this might be true, it can also help to attract new passengers as well.
