The romantic love of Romeo and Juliet has become very popular and is the ideal example of star-crossed lovers. The love of family honor is what keeps these lovers apart: the feud between the Capulets and Montagues. The purpose of this essay is to provide examples of these two types of love, which will then be compared and contrasted. People should understand Romeo and Juliet, and further study its themes to build up a successful literature pathway. Romantic love is the most basic type, where two people have a mutual connection of love towards each other.
She began to shut herself from her husband and most importantly, her son. The mother-son relationship has clearly died off. The lack of communication between Beth and Conrad affected Conrad in many ways. Beth’s cold attitude towards Conrad leads to his anger and how he wants to be left alone from everyone, including his father. Beth shuts out Cal from showing her real emotions on her favorite son’s accidental death, and lack of communication with Conrad brings the Jarrett family into an interpersonally distant family.

They rushed into marriage without thinking of the consequences. Romeo and Juliet begged Friar Lawrence to marry them immediately even though they barely knew each other. They decided to pursue their passions for each other. Her estranged father Peter Walker was a West Indian man of color from Saint Croix. Shortly after her father left the family, her mother remarried a Scandinavian man named Peter Larsen. Like many parents of interracial children during this time, her mother was unable to deal with the issues of raising an interracial child and begin to alienate herself from her young daughter. Feeling rejected from her step father and also her biological mother she begins to exhibit the symptoms of an identity crisis. One wonderful thing her parents did for her was to send her to Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee.
The hatred he has for his father was bottled up inside him and the trigger was when his mother died. To cope with everything he turned to drinking, as probably his father did as well, and involuntarily fell into his father footsteps. His father lived poor and his parents abandoned him forcing him to be homeless and fend for himself at a young age he was never told this until his mother died because she had promised never to tell his story because he wanted to keep his honor. His hatred for his father faded a bit but never forgave him for beating his mother and being the cause of her death. He hates that he became like his father, an alcoholic, he wants to stop and be better for his family and instead of following in his father’s footsteps he wants to be better and make his own.
Quotation 1: “He’s suffered so long, separated from his dear ones.”(1.55) Comment 1a: Athena is conversing with her father, Zeus, about why Odysseus’ suffering should be rid because he has been through enough already with the separation of his family. Being apart from the ones you love can be hard because they don’t know if you’re dead or alive. Comment 1b: Suffering can push you to end the journey sooner, so you can get rid of the pain. In this case it makes Odysseus want to come home even quicker. Statement of point 2: Odysseus’ wife and son are back at home, and their house is filled with suitors for his wife.
The house on Mango Street is an example of the limitations placed on Esperanza because her Papa cannot afford to fulfill the dreams he has for his family. Sally also lives on Mango Street with her father and mother. Her father is very abusive to her because “he thinks that [she] will run away like his sisters who made the family ashamed” (Cisneros 92). As he does these things to her, it drives her to want to escape from her father and the restrictions he places upon her. She sees getting married as the only option get away from her father.
How does Hill convey relationships in the novel King of the Castle? Hill is describing Kingshaw’s relationship with his mother as not a good one. We see this as Kingshaw is thinking back to his past experiences with his mother, “He wished she were dead instead of his father”. Here Hill is trying to portray that Kingshaw’s mother is an extremely unlikable person and a terrible parent. Here, Kingshaw’s mother is trying to treat both the boys with equal respect.“I shall not make a favourite of my own child”, which is conveyed to the reader constantly as throughout the novel as her respect for her own child declines as her feelings for Mr Hooper increases .
The fact that they have nice clothing, are willing to pay the amount of money needed to attend this particular school and are friends of old Oxford students make Mr and Mrs Manders a part of the higher social class. It´s clear to see, that they want Charles to attend the school to make him ready for “the real life”, but unfortunately they forget to make Charles a part of it. Mr Manders is a happy, open man, who probably also went to a Preparatory School as a child, and therefore wants the same to happen for Charles. Mrs Manders is a bit of a snob. Just a few moments after meeting Mrs Spokes for the first time, she judges her fashion style, and she also drinks sherry.
