Stress is defined as “the process by which we perceive and respond to certain events, called stressors, that we praise as threatening or challenging” (Myers, 2012, page 275). Stress is about an individual or is personal and is affected by the choices the person makes as an individual. The stress that is bad for you deprives you the ability to experience joy, happiness, enjoy life and who you are. That is why it is very important to recognize symptoms of stress and identify ways to bring the stress under control. The good stress is the kind that will help keep you motivated to be productive and be able to achieve the goals we set for ourselves.
The use of questions and discussions is thought to be advantageous within sessions for a variety of reasons, which shall be explored throughout this essay, so too, shall the challenges and limitations that counselling can pose if not used correctly. Fear and sadness are emotions that the human race has experienced for centuries. Stress comes from any situation in which we feel frustrated, angry or anxious. Anxiety, on the other hand, comes from apprehension or fear. Stress and Anxiety, in a nutshell, stem from our bodies reaction to fear or change. Those who suffer from stress can understand their condition and find resolution in the mediums of therapy or changing certain aspects to their daily lives. Anxiety on the other hand is not something that can be treated easily as there is the potential to have larger psychological or physicals reasons for its manifestation.

Whereas some are dismayed when they encounter yet another breakdown, you can be energized by it. You enjoy the challenge of analyzing the symptoms, identifying what is wrong, and finding the solution. You may prefer practical problems or conceptual ones or personal ones. You may seek out specific kinds of problems that you have met many times before and that you are confident you can fix. Or you may feel the greatest push when faced with complex and unfamiliar problems.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder BEH/225 All of us worry about things occasionally. Financial stress, illness, or loss of a spouse can cause us to fear the unknown. There are aspects of life that we cannot always control, and that in itself can be a scary thought. Sometimes, it may feel like the “what ifs” of life, the things we cannot control, begin to consume our thoughts. Most of us may feel this way periodically, when the fear or worry is justified.
When handled in an unhealthy manner, it can cause irreparable rifts, resentments, and break-ups. But when conflict is resolved in a healthy way, it increases our understanding of one another, builds trust, and strengthens our relationship bonds” (Conflict 101). While striving for resolution it is imperative to monitor stress levels and only proceed to rectify an escalated situation when cooler heads are present. Once an individual is no longer emotional he or she is closer to a rational state and his or her ability to listen attentively and comprehensively is at an optimal level. Also the individuals are usually capable of explaining what the conflict felt like and meant to them.
EFFECTS OF STRESS ON PYSCHOLOGICAL AND PHYSICAL WELL BEING The effect of stress on today’s population is a point of interest for research psychologists. It is so because of the many results of dealing with this stress, and the effect it has on different members of our culture. From the everyday distress of raising a family or the higher expectations that the current workforce is subjected to, people must learn to cope with this psychologic weight or suffer from various physical and mental maladies that are becoming much more widespread. Research in this area of psychology is not new, but is starting to become a mainstream topic for new studies. Work Related Distress My first research article covers the alarming rise in mental distress suffered at work (Stansfeld et al., 2008 p. 1).
When people believe fulfillment is possible, they tend to gain the strength, incentive, and willingness to work for what they want. Hope can be a powerful source of happiness and success in times of stress and uncertainty. However, if a person “hopes” constantly in situations where contentment is impossible and based on unrealistic outcomes, time and time again the person will be disappointed. This is what we call “false hope”. So even though hope can bring encouragement, it can also cause distress.
stress and its effects on the body This essay will discuss stress and the effect it has on our body, this will include General adaptation syndrome, Autonomic nervous system, and how major life changes cause stress in everyday life. Stress is very difficult to define it is the feeling of being overburdened; under pressure and so anxious that you cannot cope with everything in your life. The outside pressures on you start to interfere with the balance within your body resulting in illness, abnormal behaviour and even death. Factors that cause stress are called stressors for example a relationship breakdown or money problems, many of them are major conflicts or changes but some are everyday activities. The nervous system is different from any of the other systems within the body as it is the monitor of stress.
