The Relationship Between Stress, Anxiety, Habits and Phobias and How They Can be Treated With Hypnotherapy Student: James Webb -North1A Course: Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy Year One – Hypnotherapy and Counselling Skills - Module Five Introduction Everyday life can be very challenging with so many different things these can range from work, family, money, to preparing for a presentation, or trying to get through rush hour traffic or to meet a friend for a drink, all these things demanding our time and attention. How do we cope with these demands? Our bodies have a natural response to these pressures and are manifested as physical changes in our body which include increased heart rate, sweating and nausea. These and other responses are termed as stress. We all experience varying degrees of stress in our lives and stress can be good for us. In this assignment I will be looking more closely at stress and other conditions called anxiety, habits and phobias and look at how they relate to each other. I will also look at how these conditions can be helped or treated through hypnosis. Stress As mentioned previously, life is challenging, it is fast passed, circumstances can change rapidly, and easy access to information can increase expectations on our performance or leave us with so much information it can be easy to feel overwhelmed and confused and even leave us feeling unsure that we are making the right choices. The above and other similar circumstances may sound familiar to all of us and being exposed to these and other kinds of pressures can result in an individual feeling stressed. Stress is part of normal everyday life that can help us to learn and grow. Feeling stressed can be good for us; it can be a good motivator, leading an individual to complete a task.
