The philosophical usefulness of a definition of art has also been debated.” (Beardsley, 2007). Seeking originality or seeking to not be unique as a way to standout. It really doesn’t matter, as with beauty, art is in the eye of the beholder. The ever expanding ways to express one’s self is bewildering. A form of art that has always drawn in people has been works of satire, earlier forms to now have the purpose to have given
The way we value the artistic expression of a culture can be expressed by how much we learn, use and appreciate other cultures. The artistic expression of a culture shows us how the people in a civilization live and the technology being used during that time period. Art has many unique and different reasons for being created. It is often intended to appeal to and connect with human emotion. In most cultures art carries meaning and communicates certain views like politics and religious functions.
Art is simply one’s emotions, ideas, or beliefs expressed through a particular talent or skill. It is a way to practice our right to ‘pursuit happiness’. If an artist’s work is a genuine expression of their passions, then it is in fact, high art. An example of an art form that, at first glance, may not be considered ‘high art’ is graffiti/street art. To the common eye, graffiti can be seen as a nuisance; dirty; obnoxious.
We as humans cannot compare r individual accomplishments amongst ourselves to others in accomplishments because everyone is coming from different circumstances. so the questions is not to argue which one is better or more important. the question then becomes which methods could be more useful in achieving this integration towards individualistic progression and ultimately, happiness. It is impossible to say which set of disciplines is better or more important because people are good at what they are individually good at. There is no
Dexter believes if he has Judy he will be happy and satisfied with his life. She represents fallacy in two aspects. The first, she is unobtainable which makes her a fallacy because it is impossible to make her part of the dream. He was not able to get her at first, and then he was unable to hold an engagement with her. In another aspect, she is a fallacy because the image of what she is changes completely when Dexter sees her
Cracks in Perfection If you were to develop in a world where no concept of love is given, does that mean you cannot necessarily find it anyway? In Brave New World, the characters have no concept of love or any other passion and actually scorn the idea. The goal is to avoid emotional instability. The characters are supposed to find artificial happiness in eternal youth, the comforts of technology, and soma. There are however cracks in the perceived happiness of this seemingly perfect society.
An activity done by extrinsic motivation may not be done because a person enjoys it, it’s often done because they want the end outcome. Working out is a great example, the result of looking better is extrinsic motivation, and the working out is not done because they like how they feel when they workout. Amotivation is the lack of motivation or drive to do something (McDavid, Cox, & Amorose, 2012). Amotivation is when someone does like doing something and feels there is no need to do that
Art is not confined to the boundaries of a brush stroke. Art is an expression of someone’s character and whether it comes in the form of music, drawing, or another means of expressing yourself, it is what brings people together. It is even capable of knocking down the barriers between cultures. However, art cannot happen without an artist. Obviously there are some who are more talented or well known than others, such as Lyonel Feininger, but an artist lurks inside all of us.
Human example and influence are also very powerful and can corrupt the mind eager for recognition or that craves to feel wanted and accepted. The morals and values that this type of person has been taught are pushed to the back of his/her mind and become less important than the need to "fit in". Unfortunately for these people, any attention and recognition is sought after, even if it is negative. There is an obvious difference between those who are afflicted with no conscience at birth and those who have one. No amount of moral teaching or love and comfort will keep these people satisfied and happy to be "good".
Although, I believe that they have good intentions, they contain flaws on many different levels. Peace organizations are based around not only the hope for an optimistic future, but the pessimistic present in which we live. They tend to have unrealistic goals and cannot connect to people on the level in which is needed to make such an extreme and permanent change. People have trouble understanding what the present organizations are trying to achieve, and they fail to convince people that they are not the unprofessional hippies as the majority of society sees them. Finally, people of our current culture are selfish in the sense that they take opportunities as they come, and peace organizations are most often than not unable to persuade people that wars have a negative effect on the economy.
